Learn how to irrigate
your home garden
Guest speaker for the Edible Gardening Exchange in November will be Fred Geist speaking on Home Garden Irrigation. Fred has been the owner of a successful commercial contracting maintenance company in Denver for thirty years, employing over 65 people. He is a licensed tree trimmer, licensed pesticide applicator in five categories, and has owned a small licensed irrigation service business in Fort Myers for five years. In addition, Fred is an active Master gardener in both Colorado and Florida in which he volunteers his time and expertise.
Join other edible gardeners on Thursday, November 19th at 6:30pm at the North Fort Myers Rec Center located at 2000 N Recreation Park Way in North Fort Myers. Arrive at 5:30pm for an open and informal chat on edible topics. Consider bringing something to share with other gardeners (seeds, plants, a snack). Bring your own cup for free coffee and tea.
The membership fee for monthly meetings through March is $10. In addition, a $10 Lee Parks and Rec lifetime membership is required. For more information, contact Karen Harty at 610.530.8883.
Don’t know how to get started with a veggie garden? Have you tried a garden, but it failed? Karen Harty, of Grow A Gardener Inc., will present an intensive 2-hour class on the many issues with vegetable gardening in South Florida. Karen is executive director of Grow A Gardener Inc., Lee County Master Gardener, 4-H Leader of the VegHeads, and avid edible gardener that eats from her garden all year long.

Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2-4 p.m. at the SW Florida Enterprise Center 3903 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite 8, Fort Myers.
Saturday, Nov. 7 from 2-4 p.m. at Hendry County Hendry County Extension Office, 1085 Pratt Boulevard Dallas B Townsend Agricultural Center, Labelle.
Saturday, Nov. 14 from 2-4 p.m. at the SW Florida Enterprise Center 3903 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite 8, Fort Myers.
Class fee of $15 includes presentation, handouts, seeds, plus contacts to obtain FREE or low cost soil testing, plant ID, and insect ID.
