Cypress Lake United Methodist Church will presents the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m.

The 34 singers and eight instrumentalists will perform as part of their USA-Ukraine friendship tour.

“Some of the best music is born out of hardship, and the joy and beauty that comes with the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is testimony to that truth and to the heart of the Ukrainian people in the midst of their struggle for the freedom we in America too often take for granted,” said Bob Wall, former staff member for the KSOC. “The KSOC is an event you don’t want to miss.”

Music selections will feature: Slavic a cappella, sung and spoken prayers, hymns and spirituals, sacred classics, timeless instrumental, chamber music, stories and testimonies of God’s grace, rich Ukrainian voices, hearty Ukrainian folk music.

The Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus is an arm of Music Mission Kiev. KSOC shares the good news through great sacred classics, which were once forbidden in the former USSR. MMK provides spiritual and humanitarian assistance to over 400 widows and pensioners and roughly 1,800 victims of the war.

Cypress Lake United Methodist Church is at 8570 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers.
