Busey Bank sponsors 5K Run for Prevention

To encourage a safe, drug-free lifestyle for children in local communities, the Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida is hosting the Busey Bank 5K Run for Prevention Saturday, Oct. 10. The event supports Drug House Odyssey and Prevention of Drug and Alcohol Abuse in Lee County.

Runners will enjoy a scenic route through Florida Gulf Coast University. The competitive 5K, starting at 8:30 a.m. includes awards in various categories. Families are welcome to run, walk and roller skate after the initial start. First-time runners are especially encouraged to join the fun.

The cost is $25 for adults 11 years and up, $20 for students with valid ID and $10 for kids under 10 years. Pre-registration includes a “goodie bag” and t-shirt for the first 300 registrants.

Pre-race packet pick up will take place on Oct. 9 from 1-5 p.m. at the Run Shoppe, 1407 Cape Coral Parkway, Cape Coral. On-site check in and registration begin at 7:45 a.m. on October 10 at 10501 FGCU Boulevard South, Fort Myers.
