Liebegott receives 2015 Robert & Bertha Bird Scholarship Award
Faith Presbyterian Church has announced that Savannah Liebegott is the winner of the 2015 Robert & Bertha Bird Scholarship.
In 2004, Robert and Bertha Bird bequeathed assets to Faith Presbyterian Church specifying the establishment of a scholarship fund to be awarded annually to a candidate(s) who is associated with Faith Church and demonstrates outstanding qualities of church and community service, scholastic excellence, and a desire to continue his or her education beyond high school.
Applications are received and include administrative data, service to Faith Presbyterian Church, scholastic aptitude, transcripts, a personal essay and service to the community.
The Bird Scholarship Committee meets with each candidate after reviewing their application and conducts a personal interview.
The announcement of the 2015 Robert & Bertha Bird Scholarship award recipient was made during worship services at Faith Sunday, May 10.
Liebegott is the daughter of Kent and Molly Liebegott. She is graduating from North Fort Myers High School and Florida SouthWestern State College with a 5.1 GPA. She will be continuing her education in the fall and will be attending the University of Central Florida to study business management and marketing.
At school she participates in JROTC and plays in the orchestra.
At Faith, Liebegott is a member of Youth of Faith, Connexions, Belles, worship sound team, and is Youth Deacon. She will be receiving a $5,000 scholarship as the 2015 Bird Scholarship recipient.
The following also received partial scholarships from the Bird Scholarship fund:
n Garin Arabaci, the son of Tamar and Gary Arabaci. He will be graduating from Oasis High School. He plans to attend the University of Central Florida to pursue a degree in computer engineering. He is Youth Elder and will be receiving a $2,000 scholarship from the Bird Scholarship Fund.
n Heidi-Jay Churchill, the daughter of Colin and Michelle Churchill. She is graduating from Cypress Lake High School and will be attending Saint Leo Catholic University as a NCAA Division II cross country and track athlete. She will be majoring in ESE special education and a minor in religion. She will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship from the Bird Scholarship Fund.
n Shayla Connell, the daughter of Evan and Laura Connell. She is graduating Riverdale High School with a 4.55 GPA and will be attending the University of Central Florida to study political science in the fall. She is also an award-winning 4H participant and will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship from the Bird Scholarship Fund.
n Kohen Shriner, the son of Angela and Kevin Shriner, and brother of Kalli. He is graduating summa cum laude from Oasis High School with a 4.87 GPA and an AICE Diploma. Upon returning from the annual West Virginia mission trip, he will begin his first year at the University of Central Florida, majoring in electrical engineering. He will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship from the Bird Scholarship Fund.
