Dedicated volunteers to receive humanitarian award at gala
Bernie and Gina DeWolfe, long-time community volunteers, will be the recipients of the Frank Galeana Sr. Humanitarian Award at the Venetian Charity Ball Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point. The gala benefits the programs and services of Catholic Charities in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.
Both Bernie and Gina have been active at their church, Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, for many decades. Gina worked as the parish secretary and as Religious Education Coordinator and a teacher. She is an extra-ordinary minister of the Eucharist and a member of the women’s guild. Gina also represented her parish on the Venice Diocese Project Rachel and Respect Life committees. Bernie served on the Church Building Committee, Parish Center Building Committee, Hurricane Preparedness Committee, Finance Committee, and is a member of the men’s club and is an extra-ordinary minister of the Eucharist.
Gina also served as chairwomen of the Magnificat Mother of Mercy Chapter and is a past member of the Ft. Myers Junior League. Bernie is a past member of the Real Estate Investment Society and the Ft. Myers Chamber of Commerce.
Bernie and Gina have been dedicated supporters of the Venetian Charity Ball since its inception. Gina has served on the Venetian Charity Ball Committee since the event was founded 16 years ago along with the Catholic Charities Advisory Council for Lee, Hendry and Glades counties.
Catholic Charities is a source for quality programs and services for thousands of needy families, individuals, and seniors in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties. The work of the organization relies on the support of its major fundraiser the Venetian Charity Ball.
The gala will be an elegant and exciting evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing, entertainment and auction. The guest of honor will be Bishop Frank J. Dewane.
