Activities set for February at Northwest Regional Library
Southwest, Fla., Jan. 12, 2015 Next month’s roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

Exhibit: Heart Gallery of Southwest Florida

A gallery of photo boards representing children in foster care in Southwest Florida who are available for adoption. The exhibit provides information to people who may be interested in adopting or fostering these children.
English Caf

Free, informal conversation sessions for adult ESOL/ESL students.
Nibbles and Novels
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11
A lively chat about books and a morning snack.
Book Discussion: “Empty Mansions” by Bill Dedman
2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18
The story of reclusive American heiress, Huguette Clark. This daughter of one of the 50 richest Americans spent the family’s fortune on mansions in which she would never live.
Page to Stage: Vignette of Fascinatin’ Gershwin
2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24
Audiences will be delighted by the music that defined an era in American history and was featured in dozens of movies and Broadway musicals. Vignettes from the Florida Repertory Theatre’s critically acclaimed actors. Registration is required.
FAMILY
Family Storytime
11 a.m. Thursdays, Feb. 5, 12, 19
This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.
Baby-Parent Rhyme Time
9:30 a.m. Saturdays, Feb. 7, 14, 21
Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is required.
CHILDREN
Battle-Bots
5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3
Bricks 4 Kidz Battle-Bots workshop is a 2-hour competitive program where student teams will design, build & deploy their own creations in head-to-head arena style battle. For ages 8 12. Registration is required.
Kids Read Down Fines
10 a.m. Noon Saturdays, Feb. 7, 21
5 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Feb. 10, 24
Children and teens earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only.
Elementary My Dear
4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19
Fabulous stories and activities designed for elementary school students. Registration is required.
Pirates & Princesses
Noon 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17
Activities and stories to celebrate pirates and princesses and a special pirate show with Showtime for Kids at 6 p.m. Costumes welcome!
