Final preparations being made for ‘Art thru the Lens’ show
The Cape Coral Art League is making final preparations for its upcoming “Art thru the Lens”show:
Receiving: Monday, Jan. 5, noon to 3 p.m.
Reception: Thursday, Jan. 8, 5-7 p.m.
Removal: Wednesday, Jan. 21, noon to 4 p.m.
Show chairs: Carmen Sprague and Dee Fehlberg
Judge: Lynn Berreitter
Eligibility: This is a judged show and is open to all Cape Coral Art League members and non-members.
Requirements: This show is for photographs only and must be created by the artist. Photographs must have been taken within the last two years. Works that have received an award higher than honorable mention at a CCAL show are not eligible. No digitally altered or graphic art will be accepted at this show. No color enhancements of any kind. Only cropping is allowed. Be prepared to show negatives or digital files if requested. Show participants may bring up to 3 works to be displayed for sale in the center gallery.
Photographs: Works must be thoroughly dry and suitably framed or gallery wrapped with staple free edges that are not white. They must have a wire in the back for hanging that does not come higher than 3 inches from the top of the painting (will not show when hung). Works must not exceed 52×52 inches or equivalent including frame. Framed works larger than (16×20) must be framed using plexi-glass/acrylic or regular glass.
Commission: Works sold during the show must remain in the gallery until the end of the show. A commission of 30 percent of all sales will be donated to CCAL; remaining monies will be paid to the artist at the end of the show. All sales are handled through the CCAL Gift Shop. Artist assumes the responsibility for paying the sales tax.
Awards: Only one award may be given to an individual. Award winners must be present or represented at the opening. Award recipients will be notified by the show chair. The number of entries and judging costs will determine prizes.
Fees: For Cape Coral Art League Members, $20 to be entered into this show with up to three pieces. The fee for non-members is $30 for up to three pieces.
Members and exhibitors are required to provide a dish for the reception.
Artists will be notified of declined works and will be required to pick up their works at a time specified for that show. All entries are to remain in the gallery until the show is officially closed.
