Volunteers needed for Audubon Christmas Bird Count Dec. 14
Audubon of SW Florida will hold its annual Christmas Bird Count Sunday, Dec. 14, in the early morning, around 8 a.m. or so. The group is looking for volunteers to help with the local Audubon Club count.
Call Don Doggett at 239-633-5166 if you wish to help us with the count.
Volunteer counters do not need previous birding experience to participate. Audubon has experienced leaders that can teach you to bird or help you find that elusive bird you wish to add to your list.
The circle captains are Margaret England, who will do a count near LaBelle. She may be reached at 863-674-0695. Charley Ewell usually covers the Harn’s Marsh area. Vince McGraff will be doing an area near Buckingham as will Don Doggett. McGraff may be reached at 239-677-0082.
The Audubon Bird Count began in 1900. Today tens of thousands across the world participate in the Christmas Bird Count in 70,000 locations. The count assists scientists to the health of our bird populations and where the birds are located.
