39th Annual Edison Ford Holiday Nights set to open tonight
The 39th Annual Edison Ford Holiday Nights in Fort Myers opens today, Nov. 28, and is open through Friday, Jan. 2. It has become a “must see” holiday tradition in Southwest Florida.
During the holidays the homes and gardens of the Edison and Ford estates are seasonally decorated with millions of lights and historic decorations. Visitors will enjoy nightly entertainment, holiday tradition tours and on select nights, Santa visits and Clydesdale horse and wagon rides.
There will also be food service, evening river cruises and the Edison Ford Museum and Lab are open nightly.
Because of the spectacular decorations and holiday activities, USA Today selected Edison Ford Holiday Nights as one of the “Top Ten Historic Holiday Sites” in the nation for 2013, along with the White House, Mount Vernon and the Biltmore Estate.
The schedule throughout the month includes:
– Nov. 28, Opening Night – Tree Lighting at 6 p.m.
There will be a free Children’s Holiday Tree Trail with handmade ornaments on trees created by Lee County students from 55 schools.
Nightly guided holiday tradition tours will be held at 6 and 7 p.m.
Free live music will be performed on the Museum West Porch on select evenings.
– Santa Visits, Nov. 28, Dec. 8, 11, 13, 6-8 p.m.
– Behind the Scenes Holiday Traditions Tours, Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at 6:30 p.m. (additional cost). A behind-the-scenes tour takes you inside and up close in the Edison and Ford homes, led by curatorial staff with special insight on the traditions of the Edison and Ford families.
– Cartooning with Doug MacGregor as Santa Claus, Dec. 5, 12 and 19 from 7-9 p.m.
– Clydesdale Horse and Wagon Rides provided by Whispering Pines, Nov. 28, Dec. 6 and 19 and Jan. 2, 6-8 p.m., additional cost
– The Naples Carolers, Nov. 28, Dec. 13 and 15, 6-8 p.m.
– Victorian Ornament Making with Megan Kissinger Dec. 3 amd 10, 6-8 p.m.
– Artists & Authors Night at Edison Ford Museum, Dec. 13, 58 p.m.
Edison Ford Museum and Laboratory open nightly Holiday Cottage Shoppe, Museum Store and Garden Shoppe will be open nightly for one-of-a-kind gifts
Lee County Resident Nights $5 off Adult Ticket: Dec. 1-7 and Dec. 2931 and Jan. 1-2. Please provide ID.
