Cape Christian Fellowship

This weekend, Pastor Dennis Gingerich continues the series “The Good Life” with the message “Creating Peace Through Conflict.” Contemporary worship gatherings are Satur-day at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:15 a.m.

During worship gatherings, Bugz Landing is a safe and caring place for infants through Pre-K5 and Kidz Street is open for K-Grade 5 (8:30 a.m. service only provides childcare for 0-2 years old). Energy is a class for middle school students during worship gatherings each weekend.

Middle school students are invited to Energy, every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. High school students are invited to Awakening, every Wednesday from 6:30-8;30 p.m.

Cape Coral First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women are holding their annual Games Day Fund-raiser at Cape Coral First United Methodist Church 4118 Coronado Blvd., today, Feb. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Presbyterian Church

Women of the Word is a program that brings women in the Lee County area together to support one another in their faith. This spring season women from a variety of faith backgrounds meet weekly to study the book of 1 Corinthians.

They will continue to study an Old Testament Book in the fall.

The study meets Tuesday mornings from 9-11 or Tuesday evenings at 7.

Evangelical Presbyterian Church is located at 701 Mohawk Parkway in Cape Coral.

There is a complete nursery and children’s program, including homeschoolers. The spring session began Jan. 11, and ends on April 19.

Faith Bible Fellowship ‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary God’

Come join the congregation Sunday morning for the ongoing series on the Gospel of John. This week is a study John 1:29-34 where John the Baptist answers one of the greatest questions of the Old Testament. Messiah Lutheran Church

Messiah Lutheran Church Women would like to invite the public to attend a spiritual gathering with Christian author Rosemary Ling, Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 p.m., in the Family Center. She has authored three books, and has a devotional book soon to be published. Refreshments will be served.

Messiah Lutheran Church’s Christian Clown Troupe Fools For Christ will pantomime the worship service on Feb. 26, at 5 p.m., and Feb. 27, at 11 a.m..

Healing Prayer Afghan Ministry

A Life In Christ invites all knitting or crocheting prayer warriors in Cape Coral to join our Healing Prayer Afghan Ministry Fridays from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. HPA knits and crochets 6-inch x 6-inch or 8-inch x 8-inch afghan squares that are pieced together into afghans that are given away freely to the ill or grieving. Only 100 percent acrylic 4-ply medium worsted weight yarn (washable, fade resistant, mothproof) is used. Volunteers pray for the healing, comfort, financial peace and salvation of each afghan recipient.

Anyone with even beginning knitting/crocheting skills may participate. There is no cost to join, and supplies are available for volunteers to use on site. HPA meets each Friday at Cuppa Life, a coffee and sandwich shop at Del Prado Mall, in the same plaza as TJ Maxx.

All Faiths Unitarian Congregation

All Faiths Unitarian Congregation of Fort Myers is offering an opportunity to apply for a commissioned artwork to depict the theme, “We Are Each Other’s Keeper

The artwork will serve as a focal point in All Faiths’ new building on McGregor Boulevard which is located about two miles north of Fort Myers.

The requested approach should be from a spiritual, but non-religious standpoint, expressing the universally shared belief of brother/sisterhood, showing empathy, and caring for the less fortunate. Secular interpretations of this theme are also welcomed.

It is open to all 2D and 3D media including oil and acrylic paints, collage, mixed media, ceramic, wood, metal, glass and other traditional and non-traditional materials.

Three dimensional pieces must be suitable for wall mounting. Free standing sculptures are not acceptable. The proposed piece must be proportionally compatible to a wall area of approximately 7 feet by 12 feet. Artists are encouraged to creatively examine the use of various shapes of stratum, as well the usual formats.

Dedicated funding of up to $10,000 for the completion of project has been generously donated by Joseph Kotler and his wife, Barbara Cameron Kotler. Joseph Kotler was vice president of Warner Brothers for more than 30 years, and Cameron Kotler carved her name for herself as a singer-songwriter.

Phase I of the project requires submission of, among other things, a resume, samples of current work and a brief statement expressing the artist’s interest and approach to the thematic subject matter.

The deadline has been extended to March 4, 2011, or until submission acceptance is full, whichever comes first.
