Farmers Market

The Cape Coral Chamber Farmers Market is open every Saturday through May 8, 2010 at Club Square, S.E. 10th Place and S.E. 47th Terrace. Enjoy morning shopping for the freshest locally-grown fruits and vegetable. Lake Kennedy Senior Center

Lake Kennedy Senior Center presents the following events:

Captiva Cruises Collier Inn and Useppa island Museum on Friday, Nov. 6. Depart at 8 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. with a stop at the Collier Inn for a tour and lunch. Cost is $75 for members and $95 for all others.

Mote Marine laboratory on Friday, Nov. 20. Depart at 9:30 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. with a stop for lunch at the Sugar & Spice restaurant. The cost is $69 for members and $79 for all others.

Clogging classes on Mondays for beginners are 11 a.m to noon, beginner plus is from noon to 1 p.m., and Intermediate classes are from 1 to 2 p.m. The cost is $6 for members and $10 for all others.

Evening ballroom dance classes are Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and 28. The cost is $24 for members and $40 for all others.

T.G.I.F. dance party is Oct. 9 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The cost is $4 for members and $8 for all others.

Tony Rotino Senior Center

Country Western Line Dancing is on Tuesdays. Beginning Line Dancing is from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. and Intermediate Line Dancing is from noon to 1 p.m. The cost is $3 for members and $7 for all others. The instructor is Jeanne Esposito. No partner is required and classes for all levels are offered.

Tap Classes are on Mondays. Beginners classes are from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., Intermediate classes are from 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The cost is $4 for members and $8 for all others. The instructor is Marion Feldhaus.

Piano Lessons are on Saturdays from 10 to 2 p.m. Each 30 minute session is $15. Join instructor Anna Majewski on the piano. She can take you from beginner and beyond.

Afternoon Computer Classes with Sandy Musser are on Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $18 for members and $22 all others for each class

Creating Labels and Envelopes classes are on the first Thursday of each month.

Create a document of labels with the names and addresses of family and friends and use it over and over or learn to print a single envelope. Understanding Files and Folders class is on the second Thursday of each month Learn the difference between files and folders and how to organize them. Pictures, Clip Art and Graphics class is on the third Thursday of each month Using the pictures you have stored on your computer learn how to put them into a document, re-size them and move them around.

Customizing and Maintaining Windows class is on the fourth Thursday of each month Personalize your computer by creating your own background (aka Wallpaper) and screen saver and then learn to “clean-up” your computer so it runs more efficiently.

South Cape Street Market

Just like the markets that are so popular in Europe, South Cape is preparing for the third season of The South Cape Street Market. On the First Saturday of each month – November through April – over 70 vendors will take to Vincennes Boulevard with booths and tables offering a wide array of items.

A wide variety of craftsmen and vendors are on hand each month. From garden decor to luxury home furnishings, from one-of-a-kind handbags, purses and jackets to antique crocks and old-fashioned quilts, from scented soaps, lotions and oils to handmade pottery, there is something for everyone at the South Cape Street Market. Tom’s Traveling Tunes will be playing music.

The South Cape Street Markets run from 9 to 2 p.m. and admission is free. There is plenty of free parking in the surrounding City parking lots located in Big John Plaza, Iguana Mia and Club Square. The South Cape Street Market in only one block east of the Farmer’s Market

Marine Corps League Ball

Marine Corps League Ball will be held on Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., at Tunn Tavern, Anthony’s on the Boulevard. Cocktails and appetizers are at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7.

Join the Marine Corps League and the Toys for Tots volunteers for this event. You do not have to be a marine to attend. The cost is $25 per person. For tickets call Garyor Judy Bowler at 549-2822.

Lee County Community Band

The Lee County Community Band will be performing its concerts in the Cape Coral high School auditorium at 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd. at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Admission to all concerts is free. Donations are accepted and sponsors are welcomed.

Cape Coral Coconut Festival

Cape Coral Coconut Festival will be celebrated Nov. 13 through 15 This will include ads, entertainment, carnival games, food, contests, crafts and more. The kick-off will start Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight, continue Saturday with bands and activities from noon to midnight and conclude Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. Call 573-3125 for more information.

Heritance seminars

Understanding inheritance issues is the first step toward avoiding or

solving a dispute. The public is invited to attend a free seminar with Estate Attorney Robert Adamski, who has written extensively about inheritance issues in his book Inheritance Hijackers. During the session, he will address hidden threats to the inheritance of the giver and/or the receiver and how to protect that inheritance.

Symphony Holiday House

The Southwest Florida Symphony Society selected the Casa Cariba, at Palmetto Point, as this year’s Holiday House. All proceeds will benefit the Southwest Florida Symphony.

The Holiday House is located at 4839 Laurel Lane in Fort Myers and will be open Nov. 7 through Nov. 15, Monday through Saturday from 10 to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. For information, call 454-0985 or 541-3182.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a day to celebrate character and leadership. The public is invited to a special motivational presentation being offered as part of the Legacy Speakers Series by the Uncommon Friends Foundation and Hope HealthCare Services at the Burroughs Home at 2505 First Street in Fort Myers on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The special program will feature Keni Thomas.

The program begins with a buffet dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Color Guard presentation at 6:45 and the speaker introduction by Major General (Ret.) James L. Dozier. Thomas’s presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner and program are $135. Speaker tickets only are $30. Proceeds will benefit both Hope HealthCare Services and the Uncommon Friends Foundation. To order tickets call 656-3260.

FGCU

Florida Gulf Coast University’s Theatre Lab invites the public to the opening of “Our Town” on Nov. 4 through 8 and Nov. 11 through 15, at the FGCU Arts Complex on campus. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. with a matinee performance on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Search for talent

The Southwest Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced today that it has partnered with CONRIC PR & Marketing, one of the region’s leading Public Relations and Marketing firms to host the area’s first ever “Southwest Florida’s Got Talent” show. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at The Edison Restaurant’s Edison Room at 3583 McGregor Blvd. in Fort Myers. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. with open networking until 6:30 p.m. The talent contest is from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. and the winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m.
