Children’s Home Society

The Children’s Home Society is in need of a silent auction volunteer coordinator. The purpose of the volunteer is to coordinate and/or obtain items for the annual silent auction for the Child Advocate event in November of each year. The candidate must have an outgoing personality, enjoy being organized and keeping good records, and have some prior experience coordinating silent auctions or similar activities. Must be computer literate.Volunteer would be requested to give at least five hours per week and up to 10 hours per week from October through the event date and the close of all post-event activities as needed. Foundation for Lee County Public Schools

The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools is in need of mentors to match with high school students who have been awarded the Take Stock in Children Scholarship. The mentor commits to meet with the child during school hours two to four times a month. No tutoring is involved and basic training is provided. Guardian Ad Litem

Guardian Ad Litem is in need of volunteers. The GAL program volunteers serve as advocates for children involved in abuse, abandonment and neglect cases. Volunteers would represent children in court-ordered cases. A training and criminal background check screening are required. Clerical volunteers are also needed to provide assistance in the office. Literacy Volunteers of Lee County

Literacy Volunteers of Lee County, a nonprofit adult literacy organization, is seeking volunteers to help with fund-raising projects. If anyone has the time, energy and enthusiasm to share, call the office at 242-4374.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Florida is in need of mentors to match with children in need of a caring adult in their lives. Volunteers can choose to be a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” in either the school-based program, where they mentor a child at school one hour a week, or the community-based program, in which they mentor the child twice a month by doing various activities in the community. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old for the school-based program, and 18 years old for the community-based program. Voices for Kids

Voices for Kids needs volunteers. This nonprofit organization works in partnership with the Guardian Ad Litem Program 20th Judicial Court. They ensure that every abused and neglected child in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties has a court appointed Guardian ad Litem volunteer and that financial assistance and other resources are available for their accompanying health, educational and social needs. Children’s Advocacy Center

The Children’s Advocacy Center, which supports and protects the child victims of abuse through collaborative intervention and comprehensive treatment in a soothing environment, needs volunteers.
