Al Oerter Trophy nominees announced
The Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida has announced this year’s nominees for the Al Oerter Trophy.
The nominees have been recognized by their schools for excellence in an individual sport, excellence in academics, the highest level of personal character and a commitment to a drug-free lifestyle
The following student nominees will be honored:
– Darlene Hanlon, Ida S. Baker High School
– Derek West, Ida S. Baker High School
– Mason Allen, Lehigh Senior High School
– Danny Bonilla, Cypress Lake High School
– Maycee Dioneda, Cypress Lake High School
– Marcy Doerr, Dunbar High School
– Trevor Dunn, Riverdale High School
– Latisha Fields, Lehigh Senior High School
– Andrew Malszycki, South Fort Myers High School
– Jimmy Martineau, Fort Myers High School
– Erick Montoya, Estero High School
– Stacy Nowicki, South Fort Myers High School
– Caleb Michael Parker, Dunbar High School
– Katie Russo, Fort Myers High School
– Morgan Elizabeth Vickers, Riverdale High School
Cathy Oerter, representing the Oerter family, will announce the winners and present the awards.
The event is part of the coalition’s celebration of National Red Ribbon Week, which is celebrated throughout the Lee County School District with the support of the school board, superintendent and Safe and Drug-Free Schools.
It is sponsored in part by Lee Memorial Health Center and the Alliance for the Arts.
