Edison State presents the President’s Award
Dr. Kenneth P. Walker, president of Edison State College, presented Dr. Wendy Chase with the high honor of the “President’s Award” Aug. 17 for her outstanding work as a professor and leader at Edison State College.
She is a professor of Humanities who came to Southwest Florida and Edison State College five years ago.
In that time Chase has:
– Organized and continues to serve as advisor to the College’s Film Society.
– Served as discipline chair for the Humanities and Fine Arts for two years, during which time she was instrumental in curriculum revision projects as a result of Critical Thinking and SACS conferences she attended.
– Paved the way for a full-time faculty member in Fine Arts and is an active member of the Cultural Committee, a group that is committed to the establishment of an arts district on the Lee Campus.
– She is a member of the Black Maria Film Festival Committee.
– She is a member of the Public Art Committee for the city of Fort Myers.
– She was an organizer of the Edison Era Film Festival, serving as one of its presenters.
– She has taken a leadership role on the Holocaust Memorial Committee, arranging for guest speakers and serving as a presenter.
– For the past two years, she has served as one of three judges for the High School Musical Awards that culminate with a well-attended presentation ceremony at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
