Community Health Centers
The second week of August each year is dedicated to recognizing the service and contributions of Community, Migrant, Homeless and Public Housing Health Centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and undeserved people in the U.S.
This year’s commemoration is especially important as we set our sights on the goals of our Access for All America plan to serve 30 million people by 2015.
Overall, America’s Community Health Centers annually serve 18 million people in 7,000 communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
During 2008 Family Health Centers cared for 60,136 Southwest Floridians who had 203,273 office visits.
Over 8,300 of these patients already enrolled in Prestige Health Choice.
In order to cap off this week long celebration Family Health Centers and Prestige Health Choice will be co-hosting a community gathering on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Choice Pediatrics Office located in Cape Coral.
The whole family is invited out for a time of fun (e.g. – bounce houses, clowns, balloons, etc.), food and information about how to make Family Health Centers and Prestige Health Choice your medical home.
