Register early for classes in the fine arts and fine crafts for adults and youth classes at the Cape Coral Arts Studio.

St. Andrew Catholic School

St. Andrew Catholic School in Cape Coral is adding a 3 year-old pre-kindergarten class to its Early Childhood Department beginning in August. The program is designed for those who wish an all-day program from 8 to 3 p.m or a half day program from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Children must be three years of age by Sept. 11.

High Tech Central North

Lee County High Tech Center North held the annual awards program on Friday, June 5. Students were recognized for their service to the school and for the awards they had won at regional and state competitions. Several scholarships were recognized and the students nominated by their instructors for consideration as the High Tech North Student of the Year were recognized. The Director of High Tech North, Michael A. Schiffer, was pleased to announce that Joshua Noom was selected from a very qualified field to be the 2008-2009 Student of the Year.

The Comcast Foundation, founded in 1999 to provide charitable support to its local communities and to empower and enrich lives, today announced the 2009 recipients of its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

The students receiving the Comcast Leaders and Achievers scholarships in Southwest Florida this year are:

Florida Gulf Coast University’s Continuing Education and Off-Campus Programs, in collaboration with The Southwest Florida Chapter American Institute of Architects, presents the “Second Annual Greenprint: 2009 Legislative Update,” to provide an update on the recent Florida legislative session from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 24 in the Student Union ballroom. Speakers include state Sen. Garrett Richter and state Reps. Gary Aubuchon and Matt Hudson. Registration and continental breakfast is from 8 to 9 a.m. General admission cost is $35 after June 17. Cost for students with ID and no contact hours is $15.

LCSO Summer Youth Program

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is offering students ages 11 to 13 a chance to interact with law enforcement in an educational environment. The agency’s Summer Youth Program will be held at different Lee County schools in June and July. The sessions run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and are offered at no cost. The upcoming dates and locations are:

– July 6 to 9: Lehigh Acres Middle school
