Blood pressure and blood sugar clinics

Tatalomo’s Nurses Registry will provide complimentary blood pressure and blood sugar clinics on the third Monday of each month, at Lake Kennedy Senior Center, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd. The clinics are free. For more information call 574-0575.

Just like a fine wine, or aged cheese, we improve as we grow older. “Aging to Perfection” is a three-session interactive program designed to connect people and resources with ideas and strategies to live a healthy lifestyle, while growing older. A new genetic test is now available in Cape Coral to help individuals assess their risk of developing the vision-threatening disease Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). AMD is the leading cause of legal blindness in the United States affecting more than 20 million Americans.

Teen obesity

Everyone is invited to the biggest”Teen” Loser Camp Kick Off/Health Fair and weigh-in day, Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m.-noon at Christ Lutheran School-Hafer-Hall, 2911 Del Prado Blvd. The Biggest “Teen” Loser Camp is a four week camp for age 11 to 16.

The camp will run July 7, through Aug. 1.

New aquatic class

Wade into an Arthritis Foundation aquatic class. Anyone who has pain and stiffness due to Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis or any rheumatic disease the 45 minute, twice weekly sessions offer a chance to socialize as well as increase muscle strength and flexibility. The class however,will not replace a regimented therapeutic program.

Food drive

A Food Drive to be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.at ABC Learning Center, 13610 Learning Court, Fort Myers. Help feed hungry children in the community by donating.

Much needed items include: canned meats, dried goods, diapers, wipes, dish soap, tooth paste/ toothbrushes.

Children’s Day

In celebration of Children’s Day, the Florida Skin Center will open its doors to the area’s needy children to help with their skin care needs. On Saturday, June 20, the first 100 children will be examined and treated at no charge. Doors will open at 8 a.m.

CPR for Babysitters: Parents like to know that their babysitter is prepared for any emergency. CPR for Babysitters is designed to teach babysitters how to deal with a child who is not breathing or choking, or whose heart has stopped beating. Topics include one and two-rescuer infant and child CPR, choking and safety. CPR for Babysitters is an American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Basic Life Support Course, designed for babysitters. Participants receive an AHA certificate valid for two years. Class size is limited. This one day class will be held on Saturday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $60.
