Cape Coral
Kids fishing derby
The annual Kids All American Fishing Derby will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Cape Coral Yacht Club pier. The derby includes angler education, two hours of fishing, awards and lunch. Each participant will receive a goodie bag. Children must bring their own fishing rod and tackle. Bait will be provided. Lunch is included with the children’s price of $8. Parents can purchase lunch for $2.50. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. For information, call 574-0806.
St. Andrew Catholic School
St. Andrew Catholic School is adding a 3-year-old pre-kindergarten class to its Early Childhood Department beginning in August. The program is designed for those who wish an all-day program from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. or a half-day program from 8-11:30 a.m. Children must be 3 by Sept. 1l. Fort Myers
William Kollman
William Kollman, of Fort Myers, has been awarded a Heritage Award to attend Mount Union College. He is a senior at Bishop Verot High School, and a member of football and basketball. Kollman, son of Kevin and Pamela, plans to pursue a major in business administration.
Edison State College

LCSO Summer Youth Program
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is offering students age 11-13 a chance to interact with law enforcement in an educational environment. The agency’s Summer Youth Program will be held at different Lee County schools in June and July. The sessions run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and are offered at no cost. The upcoming dates and locations are:
– Monday-June 18: Bonita Springs Middle School
– June 22-25: Alva Middle School
– June 29-July 2: Cypress Lake Middle School
– July 6-9: Lehigh Acres Middle School
– July 13-16: Three Oaks Middle School
– July 20-23: Lehigh Acres High School
Colours School of The Arts
Colours School of The Arts, in cooperation with Christopher Caldwell and Bianca Russell, will premier “Raw Impulse” at 6 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $10 at the door. There will be a $3 discount for students with identification. Conceptualized by Caldwell and Russell, in collaboration with Colours. Colours is currently seeking sponsors for the show. BIS computer class
The computer class, QuickBooks Pro 2009 Level III, will be held from 6-9 p.m. June 23-24, 30 and July 1 at Business & Industry Services, 2855 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers. Kayaking Kids
Kayaking Kids will start at Bowditch Point on July 29-31 and travel by vans to discover new sections of the Blueway each day. Activities include basic instruction, paddling, hiking, swimming, water safety, crafts and games. Interpretive programs will be presented at each session along the way. All equipment is included. Bring a hat, sunscreen, bag lunch and water bottle. Cost is $25 per session. Programs run from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. daily and are open for children age 9-14. The Council on Accreditation announce that the Children’s Network of Southwest Florida has been accredited.
