Basic skills and seamanship class
A basic skills and seamanship boating class will be held from 7-9 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, today-June 11, at the Publix at Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Parkway. Cost is $25. For information, call Dave McDonough at 549-5129.
Fashion show
The Guardian Angels for Special Populations will hold a fashion show, presented by Belk’s, from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Kennedy Senior Center, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd. Tickets are $20 per person. – Today: A trip to visit Belleview Biltmore Resort in Clearwater. Trip includes a historical tour of the resort, along with lunch at the Magnolia Room. Leave from the center at 8:45 a.m. Cost is $69 for members and $79 for non-members.
– Friday: Cahlua & Cream dinner show at 7 p.m. Cost is $22 for members and $32 for non-members.
– May 21: A tour to Solomon’s Castle in Ona. Leave the center at 8:45 a.m. Cost is $65 for members and $75 for non-members.
– May 29: T.G.I.F. Dance from 6:30-9 p.m. Bring beverages and snacks or enjoy the refreshment area. Ice and cups available. Cost is $4 per person for members and $8 per person for non-members.
– Quickie Jewelry Crafting with Lynda Lea from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. First class is $14 for members and $18 for non-members. Supplies included.
– New dimensions inline dancing with Aida Pineda from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Cost $3 for members and $7 for non-members.
– Clogging classes will be held from 11 a.m.-noon and noon-1 p.m. Mondays for beginners and 1-2 p.m. Mondays for intermediates. Cost is $6 for members and $10 for non-members.

Cape Coral Yacht Club, 5817 Driftwood Parkway, presents:
– Thursday: “How to Find Fish,” with Capt. George Howell, from 7-9:30 p.m Cost is $20 for residents and $22 for non-residents.
– Swimming lessons will be held weekdays or Saturdays, call for dates and times, each month. Each session includes eight classes. Cost is $50 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

Rotary Park Environmental Center presents:
– Friday: Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $5 for residents and $6 for non-residents. The program is for anyone interested in having a yard that is environmentally friendly. Registration is required.
– Saturday: Trash to Treasure Outdoor Flea Market from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost is $20 per space.
– Saturday: Matlacha Pass Aquatic Preserve paddle at Sirenia Vista from 9 a.m.-noon. Cost is $20 for residents and $22 for non-residents.
– Free trial yoga/zumba classes from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays and 5:30-6:45 p.m. Mondays. Bring a yoga mat if planning to participate or just come to watch.
– Cape Coral Environmental Parks Society meets at 8:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of the month. The society is seeking volunteers who love nature and would like to work to improve parks through environmental education and special projects.

The Lee County Marine Law Enforcement Task Force and Marine Emergency Response Team are supporting Florida’s “Wear It” campaign with a goal of increasing the number of recreational boaters who consistently wear life jackets. National Salvation Army Week
The Salvation Army will celebrate National Salvation Army Week by treating its partner agencies to lunch. The Army canteen will serve lunch to employees of each agency not only as a community outreach, but also as a training exercise in the disaster preparedness plan. Lunch will be held at:

Authors Evening Series event
The Southwest Florida Museum of History will host its Authors Evening Series at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Author Estela Delgado shares the debut of her book, “Hidden Souls.” She is also the author of the famed poem “The Lord is My King,” which was adopted to music for “Hands Across America” 2005 Volume 14 of New World Studios. The evening includes coffee, Latin fare from Mimi’s Cafe, dessert from Mason’s Bakery, author presentation, meet-and-greet book signing and admission to the museum. Cost is $10. Reservation required.
