Cape Christian Fellowship
Pastor Wes Furlong continues the series, “Extreme Home Makeover,” with the message “Making Sense of Gender Differences.” This series will also include six seminars beginning Wednesday, May 5, with topics including: “Help I’m a Single Parent, How to Parent Adult Children? Attend one of three contemporary worship gatherings Saturday, 5 p.m., and Sunday at 9 or 11 a.m. There are classes for children and youth and a nursery provided during all worship gathering.

Christ Lutheran Church
Christ Lutheran Church, on Saturday May 2, will be hosting our 3rd annual “Potato Drop” to help feed the hungry in Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Counties. The Society of St. Andrew Gleaning Network will “dump” over 44,000 pounds of sweet potatoes on the Christ Lutheran Parking lot at 8 a.m. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help bag the potatoes and load them in trucks for distribution to local food banks, agencies, and our neighbors in need within Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Counties. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans “Join Hands Day” will provide refreshments and lunch for all the volunteers.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves, bagging will begin at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served when bagging is complete.

DayBreak Fellowship
Adult Bible Study is currently exploring the book of Romans, discussing the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans and how it applies to our lives today. Study runs through April 29. The group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Freida B. Smith Special Populations Center, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral. Children’s program is available during the adult Bible study for ages 3 through 5th grade.

Grace Baptist Church
Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral will be holding its first Buddy Break for special needs children (VIPs) on May 2. Buddy Break is, a free respite program designed to give parents/caregivers of kids with special needs a break from their ongoing responsibilities for three hours one Saturday a month. A “Buddy” is a trained and screened volunteer who is assigned to each child to provide one-on-one attention throughout the season. The program is child-directed and is for VIP children (ages 4 to 17 years old) and then siblings (4 years to 5th grade). VIP kids can make some new buddies, play games, hear and see children’s stories, videos, music, and more while giving their caregivers a much needed break.

Christian Church
King’s Way Christian Church started a new series Sunday, April 19, entitled “God’s favor.” Each week the church will focus on a specific area of hardship and difficulty and will pray and ask God to release His favor in those areas for the individuals and families in our church and community.

April 26: “Provision,” prayer for work and business
May 3: “Marriage,” prayer for married and singles
May 10: “Children,” prayer for barren wombs and broken hearts

June 7: “Power,” prayer for a life of joy and peace

Catholic Church
Fr. Christopher Gaynor Assembly 2115 Knights of Columbus will have a “Nite at the Races” Saturday, May 9, at 6 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Parish Hall, 2628 Del Prado Blvd. Admission is free. Refreshments will be available.
Temple Beth Shalom
The Jewish Federation of Lee and Charlotte counties on Sunday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m., will hold the Annual Community Memorial at Temple Beth shalom, 702 S.E. 24th Ave.
The keynote speaker will be Suzanne Vromen,author of “Hidden Children of the Holocaust, Belgian Nuns and Their Daring Rescue of the young Jews from the Nazis.” This is the story of children who were hidden for their own safety during World War II..
Based on interviews with dozens of nuns, a priest, Resistance workers and without any authorization from church authorities, succeeded in safeguarding the lives of approximately 3,000 Jewish children.
The service will include a memorial candle lighting service with the reading of the names of area residents relatives who perished during the Holocaust.

Turning Point Church
The Turning Point Church, currently meeting in the William Youth Center, located at 315 S.W. 2nd Ave in Cape Coral would like to announce their services at 10 a.m. on Sunday with Praise and Worship followed by a message from Senior Pastor D and Belinda West. The church is approximately four months old, the congregation is made up of people from various backgrounds. Pastor D has stated that the church is in the process of starting a Children’s Choir and a Children’s Worship Dance Team that will be lead by GiGi Davis. The church has their own co-ed softball team that competes on Friday evenings in the Cape Coral Parks & Rec. A special invitation is given to the area to attend a service.

Biblical Reflections
This May, the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) will unveil its spring course, Biblical Reflections: Finding Yourself in the Book of Genesis.The stories in the Bible have intrigued sages and laymen alike and have inspired thousands of artistic retellings. This six-session course examines classic stories from Genesis in a modern light, focusing on their eternal relevance to everyday life.
Noted educator Nechamie Minkowicz of Chabad Lubavitch of Southwest Florida will be teaching this course at 5620 Winkler Road for six Thursdays, starting May 7, at 7 p.m. and six Tuesdays starting May 5, at noon, and potential students are welcome to call (239) 433-7708 for more information.

‘Miracle at St. Ottilien’
at Temple Judea
Richard Hilliard of Sanibel will present a directed reading of his original play, “Miracle at St. Ottilien,” Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m., at the Temple Judea Social Hall, 14486 A&W Bulb Road in south Fort Myers.
The play is based on Hilliard’s memoir, “Surviving the Americans: the Continued Struggle of the Jews After Liberation,” about the treatment of displaced Jews at the end of the Holocaust in Germany in World War II.
Hilliard’s memoir was adapted into an award-winning documentary, “Displaced: Miracle at St. Ottilien” by filmmaker John Michalczyk
