Cape Coral Library Art Gallery

The Cape Coral Library Art Gallery, sponsored and funded by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library, features artist Skip Weber for the month of April.

Weber, a retired detective lieutenant from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey, holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Rutgers University. He began sketching at an early age and began watercolor painting after retirement.

Weber is mostly self-taught and has taken classes and workshops at the Cape Coral Art Studio, Cape Coral Art League and Pine Island Art Association.

In recent art shows, he has won three blue ribbons, a second and third place ribbon and a People’s Choice award for his watercolors.

Harbour View Gallery

Harbour View Gallery, 5789 Cape Harbour Drive, Unit 104, announces its May featured visiting artists are Nancy Green, fused glass artist, and Patty Sole, oil and acrylic painter. Painting raffle

The Rotary Club of Cape Coral will hold a drawing July 5 for a piece of Roy Schallenberg’s artwork, valued at $1,500. Raffle tickets are $5 with a limited number being sold. Cape Coral Arts Studio

Spring classes for adults and youth will be held today-Saturday. Register early. Supplies for all classes can be purchased at the studio supply store. A student discount is available. Fort Myers

Free theater shows

More Crinoline Productions and the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center will offer free theater during Art Walk to keep visitors coming downtown for the arts. All of the shows will begin at 7 p.m. and will run 20-30 minutes. Accepted donations will cover the costs of the production and the restoration of the center. The one-act shows include:

– May 1: “This Property is Condemned.”

– June 5: “Sure Thing.”

– July 3: “Variations on the Death of Trotsky.”

– Aug. 7: “Swan Song,” an adaptation of Chekhov’s.

Lee County Alliance for the Arts

The Lee County Alliance for the Arts’ May exhibition features Jonathan Kane, a photographer whose work features human figures mobilized by digital manipulation, black and white originals and unique self-portraits. An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. May 8. Sanibel

Southwest Florida Craft Guild’s 24th Exhibit of Excellence

The Southwest Florida Craft Guild’s 24th Exhibit of Excellence, featuring artwork by contemporary and traditional fine craft artisans, is on exhibit today-Friday at BIG ARTS Phillips Gallery in Sanibel. The juried exhibit and sale has works in several mediums, including wood, clay, fiber arts, glass, sculpture and mixed media.

Guild members are local artists who must meet strict standards and requirements before they can exhibit. Many members are locally and nationally recognized award-winning artists. For gallery hours and directions, call 395-0900.
