Cape Christian Fellowship

Cape Coral First United Methodist Church

Cape Coral First United Methodist Church beginning Sunday, April 19, a six-week study called “Christianity and World Religions: Wrestling With Questions People Ask,” Sunday, April 19, and everyone is invited to join them.

Acceding to Jay Therrell, pastor of Cape Coral United Methodist Church, These are questions that grip our attention, and yet we don’t often discuss them in church. We want to explore what God might be saying to us, and we hope to do it in a setting of sensitivity and respect.”

This special event will include worship, sermons and small-group studies that feature videos, Bible study, and discussion. The study, published by Abingdon Press, was developed by the Reverend Adam Hamilton, pastor of the Church of the Resurrection, in Leawood, Kansas, and is intended for anyone who has an interest in the issues.

DayBreak Fellowship

Adult Bible Study is currently exploring the book of Romans, discussing the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans and how it applies to our lives today. Study runs through April 29. The group meets every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Freida B. Smith Special Populations Center, 400 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral. Children’s program is available during the adult Bible study for ages 3 through 5th grade. Grace Baptist Church

Grace Baptist Church in Cape Coral will be holding its first Buddy Break for special needs children (VIPs) on May 2. Buddy Break is, a free respite program designed to give parents/caregivers of kids with special needs a break from their ongoing responsibilities for three hours one Saturday a month. A “Buddy” is a trained and screened volunteer who is assigned to each child to provide one-on-one attention throughout the season. The program is child-directed and is for VIP children (ages 4 to 17 years old) and then siblings (4 years to 5th grade). VIP kids can make some new buddies, play games, hear and see children’s stories, videos, music, and more while giving their caregivers a much needed break. Call 239-772-1400 for dates and times. A reservation is required to attend the required VIP orientation. This program is in partnership with Nathaniel’s Hope (www.NathanielsHope.org)whose home office is in Orlando, Florida.

Temple Beth Shalom

The Jewish Federation of Lee& Charlotte Counties on Sundays, April 26, at 3:30 p.m., will hold the Annual Community Memorial at Temple Beth shalom, 702 S.E. 24th Ave.

The keynote speaker will be Suzanne Vromen,author of “Hidden Children of the Holocaust ,Belgian Nuns and Their Daring Rescue of the young Jews from the Nazis.” This is the story of children who were hidden for their own safety during World War II..

Based on interviews with dozens of nuns a priest, Resistance workers and , without any authorization from church authorities, succeeded in safeguarding the lives of approximately 3,000 Jewish children.

The service will include a memorial candle lighting service with the reading of the names of area residents relatives who perished during the Holocaust. For more information, call 481-4449
