Renee Armstrong of Cape Coral and Rock Aboujaoud of Alva were honored with the President’s Merit Award of Girl Scouts of Gulf coast Florida, Inc. at the annual meeting of the council held in Sarasota. The President’s Merit Award is given to an outstanding individual who has gone above and beyond expectations for the benefit of the entire council.

When these two community volunteers became members-at-large of the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of Gulf coast Florida, Inc., they immediately got involved and teamed up to demonstrate their leadership skills. They both became extremely instrumental in working with the Girl Scout Caloosa Task Group securing community support for the improvement projects at Girl Scout Camp Caloosa in North Fort Myers.

Rock Aboujaoud, president of Rock Enterprises, Inc. in LaBelle, donated his expertise and professional services to the council for the removal of invasive species and for the development of a better water management system at camp

Rene Armstrong, Lee County property acquisition assistant, was instrumental for securing a grant for the clearing of Owl Creek at Camp Caloosa.
