Cape Coral

Cape Coral Yacht Club

– Friday: March Madness Night from 6-10 p.m. Live music by Two Hand One Man Band. Enjoy pool activities. Cost is $5 per person. Pre-register or buy tickets at the door.

– Swimming lessons will be held weekdays or Saturdays, call for dates and times, each month. Each session includes eight classes. Cost is $50 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

– Friday: “Destiny” at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $22 for members and $32 for non-members.

– Quickie Jewelry Crafting with Lynda Lea from 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesdays. First class is $14 for members and $18 for non-members. Supplies included.

– New dimensions inline dancing with Aida Pineda from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursdays. Cost $3 for members and $7 for non-members.

– Clogging classes will be held from 11 a.m.-noon and noon-1 p.m. Mondays for beginners and from 1-2 p.m. Mondays for intermediates. Cost is $6 for members and $10 for non-members.

Rock-N-Roll Dance

Extreme Makeover Mailbox contest

Mailbox Improvement Month is not until May, but the Fort Myers/Cape Coral Post Offices are holding an “Extreme Makeover Mailbox” contest in preparation for the month.

Check out the mailbox and see if it needs a face lift. If so, make plans now to spiff it up and enter the contest. The rules are simple:

– Take a photo of the existing mailbox that needs a makeover.

– Make the changes and take a photo of the new, mailbox.

– Mail both photos, along with name, address and phone number, to USPS Consumer Council, 79 Mid Cape Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33991.

Entries will be accepted until Tuesday.

Rotary Park Environmental Center

Rotary Park Environmental Center presents:

n Saturday: Course designed to teach basic kayak paddle strokes from 9-11 a.m. at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. Cost is $25 for residents and $28 for non-residents.

– Tuesday: Guided walk through Yellow Fever Creek. The walk is approximately two miles. Bring hiking boots. Cost is $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents.

Fort Myers

Burroughs home

Guided tours of the historic Burroughs home in Fort Myers are now available at 10 a.m. Fridays. The cost is $10. Reservations are not required, but are appreciated, at 337-9505.

Urban Farm Bus tour

The first Urban Farm Bus tour will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Guided by Roy Beckford, agriculture agent with the IFAS Lee County Extension. Cost is $50 per person. For information, call Claudia Piotrowicz at 533-7514.

‘BRAVO/Ballet’

The Gulfshore Ballet will host “BRAVO/Ballet” at 3 p.m. Sunday at Cypress Lake Center for the Arts, 6750 Panther Lane, Fort Myers. Tickets are available at 214-0446.

The Legends of Doo Wop

Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre presents The Legends of Doo Wop on Monday. Dinner at 6 p.m. Show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $52 for dinner and the show, or $32 for the performance only. To reserve tickets, call 278-4422 or visit the box office at 1380 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers.

Donations needed

Lee County Animal Services has a great need for cat food and cat litter to stock the agency’s community pet pantry. Owners who need assistance may contact Lee County Animal Services at 533-7387 to be placed on an approved list to receive pet food. Anyone who can assist by donating pet food, especially cat food, cat litter or other pet products, may bring them to the shelter at 5600 Banner Drive in Fort Myers. Donations may be left at the door if the shelter is not open.

Fort Myers Beach

Bowditch Point Park

Take an educational walk through Matanzas Pass Preserve and Bowditch Point Park with a naturalist. Bring a hat, bug spray, water and a camera. Bowditch Point walks are held from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesdays at 50 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach. The walk is free with paid parking.
