Art Poems & Poetry Reading set for Foulds Theatre, Lee County Alliance for the Arts
Painting, sculpture, raku, mixed media, digital photography, soft fabric sculpture, villanelles, sonnets, renga, ballads, free verse will be presented at the Alliance for the Arts on Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m.. The presentation will showcase new work by 13 Southwest Florida artists and 13 poets who have collaborated to produce 26 new art poems.
Art poems are artworks inspired by poems and poems inspired by artworks. At the April 3 presentation poets will perform their poems while the artists will speak about creating a new artwork from a poem. All artworks will be exhibited. A newly created video will introduce the program.
Artists include: Jo Anne Bedient, Pam Broderson, Rod Busch, Katie Gardenia, Ellie Gause, Martha Graham, Sheila Hoen, Dennis Joyce, Charles Lister, Carole Nastars, Jim Roberts, Carol Rosenberg and Peter Zell.
Poets include: Jim Brock, Don Brown, Ray Buck, Vince Faraone, Bill Highsmith, Tanya Hochchild, Mary LaVelle, Bob Maxeiner, Joeseph Pacheco, Katie Pankow, Rachel Peacock, Sid Simon and Lorraine Vail.
Tickets will be available at the door: $3 per person or $5 per couple.
The vent is made possible via a partnership among The Alliance for the Arts, Gulf Coast Writers Association, and Art Poems.
