Cape man finishes first in Conquistador Cup race

1 min read

The Conquistador Cup, an annual race that sailed through Punta Gorda last

weekend, made quite some waves onshore, with a record number of boats

enrolled to compete.

More than 80 yachts sailed during the Swedish-start race (a reverse start,

handicap in first), and Cape Coral’s David Naumann, a sailor from the local

Caloosahatchee Marching and Chowder Society (CMCS) sailing club, finished in

first place with just one second over the second-place boat, in his Jolly

Mon, an Islander 36.

David and his wife, Cindy, are members of the CMCS Club, a group that meets

and sails regularly through Fort Myers Beach and its surrounding waterways.
