Night of Dinner and Music
An evening of dinner and music will be presented by the Ida S. Baker High School choir and wind ensemble on Feb 26.
Dinner, catered by Olive Garden, will be served starting at 5:15 pm, followed by a live concert at 7:00 pm. There will also be a silent auction featuring music and sports memorabilia. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds support the Baker music program. The event takes place at Baker High School, 3500 Agualinda Blvd, Cape Coral. The 5th Annual Senior Idol is on Feb. 27. Cost is $15 per person and the contest is open to the public. Applications are available at the center. Entries are limited to the first 20 applicants with a $10 entry fee (add $4) for dinner. Doors open at 6:30 for dinner, at 7 p.m. the search begins for the Senior Idol. For details call 574-0575.
Trip to City of Mount Dora Wednesday, March 4, leave the center 7:15 a.m. (arrive by 7 a.m.) Cost $67 for members and $77 for non-members. Reservations are required in advance, Call 574-0575.
The Turner Talents, an afternoon of song and dance is March 7 and 8 at 2 p.m. Cost is $10.
Clogging classes Mondays: beginner,11 a.m. to noon; beginner, noon to 1 p.m.; and intermediate 1 to 2 p.m. Cost is $6 members for all classes and $10 for non-members.
Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Quickie Jewelry Crafting with Lynda Lea. the first class is $14 for members and $18 for non-members (supplies are included).
Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m., new dimensions inline dancing with Aida Pineda. Cost is $3 for members and $7 for non -members.
Free concert
The Gulf Coast Symphony will play a free concert for the first time on Feb. 28, at Cultural Park, located at 528 Cultural Park Blvd. with activities starting at 11 a.m. There will be retail vendors, food vendors, drawings and movie-themed dressed characters. The Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral announces Nashville recording artist Ken Randolph will be the musical headliner at the TIB Bank Celebrate Cape Coral on March 7 at Big John’s Town Center on S.E. 47th Terrace.

Extreme Makeover Mailbox
Mailbox Improvement Month isn’t until May, but the Fort Myers/Cape Coral Post Offices are holding an “Extreme Makeover Mailbox” contest in preparation for the month.
Check out your mailbox and see if it needs a face lift. If so, make plans now to spiff it up and enter the contest. The rules are simple:
Take a photo of the existing mailbox that needs a makeover.
Make the changes and take a photo of the new, mailbox. Mail both photos, along with name, address, and phone number to USPS Consumer Council, 79 Mid Cape Terr., Cape Coral, FL 33991.
Entries will be accepted between March 1 and March 31. Two winners will be announced on April 16-one each from Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

Lee Gardening volunteer program
The Master Gardner Volunteer program begins Feb. 27. Training includes 70 hours of classroom and field training. Classes will be held at Lee County Extension, 3406 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers.

Auditions at Broadway Palm
Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre, 1390 Colonial Ave., Fort Myers, is holding open auditions for adults and children for “Peter Pan” and “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” on Feb. 28. Actors between the ages 8 and 14 audition from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ages 15 and up audition from 2 to 3 p.m.
