Advocacy Council seeks volunteers
The Local Advocacy Council, Area 15, consists of volunteers appointed by the governor to review and investigate situations stemming from complaints and monitor services provided by the Florida Department of Children and Families to oversee and investigate the quality of the services provided.
Area 15 currently has three councils for mental health, developmental disabilities and multiprogram, which include all types of complaints from child welfare issues such as children in foster care, day care and under protective supervision.
After recommendation by the local council members, those chosen are appointed by the governor.
Those interested in making a difference in the lives of Florida’s most vulnerable citizens, can call 338-3301 or 800-342-0825 to request an application or for information.
New members are needed in all counties.
