Senior Friendship Centers

Senior Friendship Centers is seeking an administrative assistant to help with the Health and Wellness Program in North Fort Myers.
Volunteers are needed for the 9th Annual Reading Festival to be held Saturday Mar. 25 at Centennial Park. Opportunities are available for set up the day before and assistance during the day long event itself as well as clean up after the event is over.

United Way and its VITA program
United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades and Consumer Credit Counseling Services are looking for volunteers to help expand the Volunteer Income Tax Preparation (VITA) program in the community. VITA is the national free income tax assistance program for low to moderate income families and individuals. VITA volunteers will help individuals and families prepare and file their returns and assist them in acquiring earned income tax credits for which they may qualify.
The United Way Volunteer Center is currently recruiting volunteers to serve as greeters, screeners or tax preparers.Free training will be provided. Volunteers will complete a certification online and software training will be provided by the Internal Revenue Service.
VITA will be offered in Lee, Hendry and Glades counties through a partnership with United Way of Lee, Hendry and Glades Consumer Credit Counseling Services and the Internal Revenue Service. There will be several sites in Lee County, including Cape Coral, Lehigh, Fort Myers and East Fort Myers. Governor and local Advocacy Councils making a difference
The Local Advocacy Council, Area 15, consists of volunteers appointed by the Governor to review and investigate situations stemming from complaints and monitor services provided by the Florida Department of Children and Families to oversee and investigate the quality of the services provided.
Area 15 currently has three councils and they are for mental health, developmental disabilities, and multi-program which include all types of complaints from child welfare issues such as children in foster care, day care and under protective supervision.
After recommendation by the local council members, you are appointed by the Governor.
