Cape Coral Art League 2009 Classes Schedule. Classes are held in four week sessions unless otherwise stated.

Monday, 1 to 4 p.m., Painting in Pastels. All Mediums, 1 to 4 p.m.

Tuesday: 9 a.m. to noon, Jewelry Design. Acrylic Painting, 1 to 4 p.m.: Expressive Experimentation in Creative Watercolor, 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday: 9 a.m. to noon. All Mediums 9 a.m. to noon, Drawing ProcessStart to Finish.

Member’s Open Painting, 1 to 4 p.m.: non instruction. 12:30 to 3:30 p.m combining Realism with Abstract Design/Acr Erma Jean Wood, 6 to 9 p.m. Beginning Photography,Thursday: 9 to noon, En Plein Air Painting

Cape Coral Arts Studio

Cape Coral Arts Studio presents the following events.

From Jan. 2 through Jan 30, exhibit “The Surreal World of Greg Deckler.” Artist’s reception Friday, Jan. 9, 5 to 7 p.m. Free and open to the public.

The Stone Age Emporium presents a bead show at Cape Coral Arts Studio Saturday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This one-day event provides an opportunity to choose from a large selection of supplies for anyone working in jewelry, glass beading, precious metal clay, gold and silversmithing. There will be over 200 varieties of gemstones and glass beads available.

Fine Craft Bash, Sunday, Jan. 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a day of hands-on fine craft workshops that include: silver jewelry, glass fusing, enameling, and past paper boxes, intro to beadmaking, painted gourds, stained glass, raku firing and wire wrapping.Morning workshops from 9-noon; afternoon workshops from 1 to 4 p.m. Cost is $35 for one workshop or $60 for two workshops. Special rates for members and students. Winter class session, Jan. 12 through March 2. Register early for classes in the fine arts and fine crafts for adults and youth classes at the Arts Studio.

FGCU Art Gallery

Florida Gulf Coast University Art Gallery invites the public to an opening reception for “Man Made” exhibition featuring the environmental art of Mary Ellen Croteau from 5 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 8, at the Art Gallery. The exhibition runs through Feb. 7, and is free and open to the public.

Pastel Studio studio tour

The Southwest Florida Pastel Society is hosting an Artist Studio tour Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Seven artists studios will be open in Fort Myers, Bonita Springs and Naples.

Alliance of the Arts

Art organizations, community leaders, community foundations and individual artists in Southwest Florida are invited to attend a panel discussion on the role of the arts in the changing economy Tuesday, Jan. 27. Registration is at 9:15 a.m. and refreshments. Free to Alliance and Art Council of Southwest Florida members, $5 for non-members.

Tom Prather exemplified his love for the arts during the Alliance of the Arts annual signature fund-raiser this past November by donating track lighting to the member gallery.

Edison Festival of Light

The Edison Festival of Light is now excepting applications for the Annual Arts and Crafts Show, Crafts on the River to be held Feb. 20, 21 and 22, in Centennial Park.

The park will be transformed into a craft lovers dream with exhibitors displaying their handmade crafts and art during the three-day event.
