Breaking the Silence of Ovarian Cancer
A powerful force of change will be making its way to the Barbara Mann Center. Menopause The Musical Out Loud Breaking the Silence of Ovarian Cancer! will be in town for one performance on Jan. 7.
Menopause The Musical brings together four women (Professional Woman, Earth Mother, Soap Star and Iowa Housewife) at a department store lingerie sale. These ladies have nothing in common but a black lace bra and hot flashes, night sweats, memory loss, chocolate binges, plastic surgery and more!
A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realize that menopause is no longer The Silent Passage! The presenter of the show, the Jeanie C. Linders Fund, will be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Florida – Gulf Coast.

Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show
Tickets are now available for the Breast Cancer Awareness Fashion Show and Luncheon sponsored by “From Our Hearts.” The Fashion Show will be held at the Sandy Hook Restaurant in Matlacha on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and the activities will be over by 3 p.m.
Proceeds from the day will benefit local Breast Cancer Care. Tickets are available from the Sandy Hook Restaurant or any ‘From Our Hearts’ member. Tables can be reserved by purchasing a minimum of four tickets.
The $40 ticket includes great food with a vegetarian plate available upon request, prizes, guest speakers; and a Fashion Show with Fashions provided by Belk and modeled by Breast Cancer Survivors. Other activities will include raffles for gift baskets with overnight stays at Four Winds Condos and the Beachouse Lodge.
You will also have an opportunity to sign up for the yearly “From Our Hearts” 5K walk which will be held March 14 and to see the 49cc Wildfire Scooter which is the Big Ticket drawing for this year’s ‘BreastFest’.
