Holiday camp

Tropical Twisters Gymnastics is offering a holiday camp from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Jan. 2. The camp includes arts and crafts, gymnastics, games, contests, prizes and free snacks. For information, call 540-9800 or visit: www.tropicaltwistersgymnasticscom.

Cape Coral Yacht Club

The Cape Coral Yacht Club, 5819 Driftwood Parkway, presents:

– Monday-Tuesday: Parents who need extra time for last-minute holiday shopping can drop off their children from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be crafts and activities. Snacks will be provided. Cost is $30 per day for residents and $33 for non-residents.

– Dec. 29-31: Adventure camp from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. for ages 8-12. Resident fee is $80 and non-resident fee is $90. The camp will offer kayaking, tennis, fishing, swimming and beach tennis. Elf training also for ages 5-7.

Youth flag football

The Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department will offer youth flag football as of May 1 for boys and girls ages 8-13. Registration is Jan. 5-30 and may be done online at: www.capecoral.net by clicking on the athletics home page. Information will be received via e-mail, or sign up at the athletic office, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd., from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Games are Wednesdays and/or Saturdays at the Storm Football Complex, 2602 Chiquita Blvd. Entry fee is $60. Private pilot ground school

A private pilot ground school will be offered from 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 14-April 29, at Cape Coral High School, 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd. Registration is at 5:45 p.m. Jan. 14. The instructor will guide the student through airplanes and aerodynamics; airplane instruments, engines and systems; airports, air traffic control and airspace; and more. Cost is $113 plus materials. Among those who recently completed the course is Alan Young of Cape Coral. Completion of the school is one step in the process of obtaining a private pilot license.

Four Freedoms Park

Four Freedoms Park, 4818 Tarpon Court, presents:

– Tuesday: Story time with Mrs. Claus from 9-10 a.m. for ages 1-2. Cost is $15 for residents and $17 for non-residents. The morning includes a finger play, craft and holiday snack with Mrs. Claus.

Florida Gulf Coast University

Hodges University

Registration for the winter term at Hodges University has begun for enrolled, continuing students and new students. The winter term begins Jan. 20. Those interested in attending the university are encouraged to call the Fort Myers campus at 482-0019 or the Naples campus at 513-1122 to set up an appointment with the admissions department.

Hodges University also will begin offering classes on the Highland’s campus of South Florida Community College as of January. Students there can enroll in the bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies program through an arrangement with Hodges.

Krav combatives

Old Paths Martial Arts and Sente Fighting Systems will offer free Krav combatives – Israeli combat system – classes to selected applicants as of Jan. 1. To qualify, applicants must be at least 15 and have trained in a verifiable contact martial art or system, with credentials to attest, or have some background in wrestling or boxing. The course will be taught by the Team Sente instructors and Old Paths Martial Arts staff, with the goal of developing a MMA youth and adult competition team. Winter class session

Florida Repertory Theatre’s Education Department is now enrolling for its six-week winter class session, which runs Jan. 5-Feb. 9, at the Florida Rep Studio, 2267 First St., Fort Myers. Classes include:

– “Knock, Knock. Who’s There?”: Mondays from 4-5 p.m. for ages 4-7. Cost is $90.

– “Intro to Technical Theatre”: Mondays from 5-6:30 p.m. for ages 11-17. Cost is $90.
