Edison Ford Winter Estates Foundation Chairman Sam Galloway Jr. presented Edison & Ford Winter Estates Chairperson Sass Edwards and CEO Chris Pendleton with checks totaling $317,000 for improvements to the estates at the foundation’s eighth annual signature fund-raising event, The Edison Ford Winter Estates Foundation Gala, on Nov. 14.
Through Jan. 3, celebrate the holidays with Southwest Florida’s 33-year tradition, Edison & Ford Holiday Nights. Each December, the historic buildings and gardens are decorated with lights and traditional decorations. With a different theme every year, 2008 will be antique toys of the Edison era.

The Edison Celebration of Art calls for artists with the application date extended to Dec. 29. All art work must be original and created by the displaying artist.

The Edison Celebration of Art announces that Frame & Art Gallery of Fort Myers will sponsor the 6th Annual Edison Celebration of Art, along with the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center and the School District of Lee County. The Celebration of Art will be held in downtown Fort Myers.
The 52nd Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science & Engineering Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Harborside Event Center and Centennial Park. There is no charge for admission. For information, call Bobbi Stage at 334-2999.
The American Red Cross of Lee County is making dozens of extra seats to the 2009 Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade available to the general public. The parade will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 21. Tickets are available for purchase at the American Red Cross of Lee County office at 6310 Techster Blvd., Suite 7, Fort Myers. Cost per ticket is $8.50. For information, call 278-3401.
