Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

This year on Nov. 22, the members of The Rio Vista Ward, the Spanish speaking congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the areas of Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, observed the celebration of “The Week of the Family,” by donating a load of boxes of food to the “Nations Association Charities.” In addition to the food, the families of the church also contributed personal hygiene kits. In this small way, families of the LDS Church helped families of the community.

Rev. Israel Suarez, the executive director of the charity, received the donation with gratitude and gave the delivery crew a tour around the Tice Street facility.

The week of Nov. 17, saw a bit of friendly competition among the classes at St Andrew Catholic School. It was all for a good cause. The classes were challenged to bring in canned food for the Cape Coral Caring Center, with the class that brought in the most cans receiving an ice cream party. The drive was sponsored by the school’s chapter of the FEA, (Future Educators of America). According to FEA sponsor, Pre-K teacher Janet Omundsen, the school-wide effort yielded an impressive 1,600 items. The winning class was Mrs. Antonuccio’s third grade class.
