The Cape Coral AARP Chapter is sponsoring a special presentation on forensics. Help Cape Police battle crime. Forensics supervisor lawrence (Larry) Stringham will speak at the Lake kennedy senior Center at 1 p,m. on Friday, Nov. 21. All interested citizens are invited to attend this free program. Lake Kennedy Senior Center presents a trip to Orlando: Ice at the Gaylord Palms Resort/Festival Bay Mall in Orlando on Thursday Dec. 18. Leave the center at 8:30 a.m. (arrive early, 8:15 a.m.) Lunch Dutch Treat at Festival Bay Mall. Cost is $75 per person for members and $85 per person for non-members.

Goodwill Industries

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida has received a $97,500 Community Development block Grant from the city of Cape Coral. The funds will be used to rehabilitate Laurel Oaks, an apartment complex for people with disabilities in Southwest Cape Coral.

Renovations are slated to begin early in January 2009, and should be completed in February 2009.

Two step dance and some ballroom

Learn or review two-step dance on Nov. 22 at Aki’s Dance Studio at 6300 Metro Plantation Road in Fort Myers call 275-9252 for more information.

The affair starts at 6:30 p.m. with a beginner two step lesson followed by open dancing at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person with or without the lessons. Dress code is casual but no sneakers or tennis shoes. Bring your own food (snacks and drinks) Alcohol is allowed in moderation.

Symphony Sunday

The “Little Black Dresses” will join the Southwest Florida Symphony Sunday Nov. 23 for their inaugural “Little Black Dresses Go to the Symphony” event. The Classical Opener Symphony Spectacular matinee begins at 2:30 pm at Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Hall. The post -concert “Black Dresses and Bowties” event will take place at Cin Cin Mediterranean Bar & Grille (corner of McGregor & Cypress) beginning at 5:30 pm. Meet and mingle with Symphony musicians, enjoy appetizers and live jazz and blues.

Tickets are $50 for the concert and reception

Reception only at Cin Cin is $25 (excludes alcohol)

Thanksgiving performance

Florida Repertory Theatre announces $10 seats for a special Thanksgiving Day preview of its upcoming production “Indian Blood” by A.R. Gurney, on Thursday, Nov, 27, at 8 p.m..

In addition to the $10 Thanksgiving Seats, Florida Rep is offering this performances to students completely free of charge, and admission on Thanksgiving Day is free for any high school or college student with a valid student ID. The performance begins at 8 p.m, and $10 seats are available by calling 332.4488. or visiting the box office.
