Cape Coral Historical Society

The regular monthly meeting of the Cape Coral Historical Society will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, at Cultural Park Theatre, 528 Cultural Park Blvd.

The speaker John Jacobsen, C.E.O. of Intergraphic Group, Inc., will present, Downtown Cape Coral — Where It’s Been, Where It Is, Where It’s Going.

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife

Learn how to preserve wildlife in the Cape attend the general meeting of the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. The meeting will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at Rotary Park, 5505 Rose Garden Road. The guest speaker will be Charlie Ewell of the Lee County School District. Ewell also volunteers with CCFW, Lee County Bird Patrol, Florida Fish and Wildlife and Florida Omithological Society. His topic will deal with the dynamics of spring migration in Southwest Florida.

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife also needs volunteers to help find and mark burrowing owl and gopher tortoise nests in Cape Coral. If any nests in the neighborhood are over grown, if new nests that need to be staked, or if you would like to have a starter burrow in the yard, contact the CCFW at 980-2593 or e-mail: www.ccfriendsofwilklife.org.

Cape Coral Women’s Connection

Cape Coral Women’s Connection will meet from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m., Monday, April 14, at Palmetto Pine Country Club, 1940 S.W. Ninth Court.

A personal safety program for women will be presented by Trish Bissler from the Lee County Sheriff Office. Singer Dorothy Graham and inspirational speaker Marcia Trego, will also be featured

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8463 is having its Spring Fling Card Party fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m., The date is Saturday, April 12.

Cost is $8, which includes a luncheon and table rental. The menu is croissant sandwiches, assorted salads, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar and door prizes

Friends of the Opera

Greater Fort Myers Democratic Club

The Greater Fort Myers Democratic Club presents the second annual Spring Fling Art Auction. The auction will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, April 7. Pre-auction viewing will be from 5 to 6 p.m., at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre.

A $10 donation buys a number to bid with and enters one into the 50/50 cash drawing.

Paintings, photographs, original art, jewelry, books and collectibles will be available.

Fort Myers Coin Club

The Fort Myers Coin Club will hold its Spring 2008 Coin Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 12, at the Elks Lodge located at 1900 Park Meadows Drive, Fort Myers. Admission and parking are free.

On display will be a complete Morgan and Peace Dollar set, from 1878 to 1934, including the rare 1895 Proof Morgan, the “King of the Morgans,” one of only 700 minted.

Free verbal appraisals can also be given.

Lee County Genealogical Society

The Lee County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 17, at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 4141 Deleon St., Fort Myers.
