Harry Chapin Food Bank, the largest hunger-relief organization and only Feeding America partner serving Southwest Florida, is excited to announce it has been named the beneficiary of the Seminole Casino Hotel’s “Change for Change” program.

During the month of November, guests will have the opportunity to donate the change on their redemption tickets when they cash out to Harry Chapin Food Bank. All funds raised during the month of November will support Harry Chapin Food Bank’s mission to end hunger in Southwest Florida.

“We are excited to once again participate in the Seminole Casino Hotel’s ‘Change for Change’ program,” said Ann Prifrel, the chief development officer at Harry Chapin Food Bank. “This program not only helps raise funds for our vital programs, but also raises awareness about the impact of food insecurity in our community.”

In 2023, the “Change for Change” program raised approximately $8,800 for Harry Chapin Food Bank.

“We value our partnership with Harry Chapin Food Bank and are proud to support the impactful work they’re doing in our community,” said Tony Alves, general manager at Seminole Casino Hotel Immokalee. “We know that every dollar counts and are grateful to play a part in the fight against hunger.”

Food insecurity, defined as the lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy lifestyle, is a foremost concern in Southwest Florida. Feeding America estimates more than 177,000 individuals, including 41,000 children, are impacted throughout Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry counties.

Harry Chapin Food Bank is leading the charge to combat food insecurity in Southwest Florida by feeding more than 250,000 individuals each month through an array of food distribution programs focused on children, families and seniors.

In 2023, Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed approximately 35.6 million pounds of food. That was up from the previous year, further evidence of the growing need throughout the region.
