Nor-Tech, Mercury Racing raise funds for Cape Caring Center
A fundraising effort launched by Nor-Tech Performance Boats and Mercury Racing brought in $114,983 for the Cape Coral Caring Center to help the non-profit purchase food for individuals and families who suffered significantly because of Hurricane Ian.
The fundraiser started with matching donations of $25,000 each from Nor-Tech and Mercury Racing. The two marine manufacturing companies then sought matching donations from other individuals and businesses, resulting in the final amount.
Nor-Tech, based in Cape Coral for over 30 years, and its engine supplier, Mercury Racing, focused on Hurricane Ian recovery and the efforts by the Cape Coral Caring Center to provide food and financial assistance for individuals who need help paying utility bills.
“What an incredible effort by these two companies – and many others – to help families in need,” Cape Coral executive director Julie Ferguson said. “Our community was devastated because of the storm, and their generosity will certainly make a difference for families here.”
The Cape Coral Caring Center’s main objectives are to assist individuals and families in critical need to help them cope with a negative economic situation on a short-term basis. The center provides food, electric bill assistance and referrals to other agencies with resources for individuals.
