As part of the Community Redevelopment Agency’s infrastructure improvements in south Cape Coral, the city will continue installing force main (wastewater) transmission pipelines to strengthen the current force main infrastructure through the fall of 2023.

The city’s contractor is planning a road closure on Southeast 4th Place during the second week of February and Saturday work is expected on Feb. 11, on Southeast 15th Avenue/Cape Coral Street.

Closing Southeast 4th Place at Southeast 47th Terrace, detouring westbound traffic on Southeast 47th Terrace north onto Palm Tree Boulevard, east onto Country Club Boulevard, to turn south onto Southeast 4th Place for the residents who live on Southeast 4th Place. Travel on Southeast 4th Place will be open to local traffic only. There will be no exit from Southeast 4th Place onto Southeast 47th Terrace. Any residents exiting Southeast 4th Place will be directed to head north back to Country Club Boulevard to exit Southeast 4th Place.

Eastbound traffic on Southeast 47th Terrace will be detoured north onto Southeast 5th Avenue, west onto Country Club Boulevard then south onto Southeast 4th Place. There will be no exit from Southeast 4th Place onto Southeast 47th Terrace. Any residents exiting Southeast 4th Place will be directed to head north back to Country Club Boulevard to exit from Southeast 4th Place. Only residents of Southeast 4th Place will have access to Southeast 4th Place during the temporary road closure. Once work is completed, Southeast 4th Terrace will reopen to all traffic.

Additionally, the city’s contractor expects work along Southeast 15th Avenue/Cape Coral Street to occur on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists traveling along these roads can expect delays, temporary detours and possible lane closures that day.

During force main work residents can expect:

• Noise from construction equipment and vehicles

• Installation of force main pipelines

• Road excavation and restoration

• Sidewalk removal and restoration

• Driveway entrance/exit restoration

• Temporary drilling/boring

During all phases of the project, intermittent detours, road closures or lane closures can be expected Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours work is not anticipated; however if unexpected road closures, Saturday or evening work is needed, the city of Cape Coral’s Utilities Department will make that determination and notify the community via the city’s Facebook page.

We thank you for your patience as we work to improve the city’s infrastructure and develop increased capacity for our future growth.
