Gulf Coast Humane Society to host Pet Food Pantry Nov. 5
The Gulf Coast Humane Society, along with the Lee County Game Room Association and in cooperation with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Cruelty Task Force, will be hosting a Pet Food Pantry Saturday, Nov. 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 5781 Bayshore Road in North Fort Myers.
GCHS has distributed over a ton of pet food since Hurricane Ian Sept. 28, and looks to help those forever families in need to feed their pets.
There will be free dog/cat food, kitty litter and other pet items to pick up, while supplies last. Raffle prizes will be up for grabs with purchase of a raffle ticket(s)! Prizes include a 14-inch HP touchscreen laptop, a grill and other pet-centric raffle baskets!
The Pet Food Pantry is sponsored by the Lee County Game Room Association, L.S.B.A. and L.C.G.R.A. and in cooperation with the LCSO. There will be representatives from the LCSO Animal Cruelty Task Force during the pet food pantry, as well.
“The outpouring of generous donations to GCHS since Sept. 28, has enabled us to help those families who were affected by Hurricane Ian and aiding them in feeding their pets,” said GCHS Executive Director Gary Willoughby. “Helping families feed their pets can at least take some pressure off of them, because we know these peoples’ pets are a part of their family.”
The Gulf Coast Humane Society is a regional organization dedicated to helping companion pets find their forever homes, no matter how long it takes. GCHS provides an adoption center, spay-neuter and veterinary clinic, as well as education and awareness to the public about the welfare of homeless pets.
GCHS’ mission is to care for companion pets in need by offering safe refuge, providing medical care and facilitating adoptions. GCHS promotes the concept the “Adopt, Don’t Shop” and help educate the community about proper and responsible animal care, while providing quality, affordable veterinary care.
