Cape Coral Animal Shelter to host Trick-or-Treat event Oct. 29-30

Each year, the Cape Coral Animal Shelter hosts “Trick or Treat for the Animals of CCAS.” Kids and their parents are encouraged to come visit the cats and dogs residing at the shelter and give them treats. This year, the shelter encourages kids to come in costume and they will also receive treats after they treat the animals.
“Because of the devastation Ian has created in our community, so many Trick or Treat events have been cancelled for the safety of the children” said Liz McCauley, Executive Director of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter. “We felt this year, we could provide a save environment for kids to show off their costumes, treat the animals, and get some treats of their own. This community is so supportive of our shelter, and we constantly look for ways to give back.”
The Cape Coral Animal Shelter and Veterinary Clinic has been giving away free pet food and supplies to those in need since Ian struck on Sept. 28. Prior to the hurricane, they gave away free crates and carriers to help people evacuate their pets. While there has been a significant number of requests from displaced pet owners to surrender their pets, there has also been over 80 adoptions in the weeks since the hurricane.
The shelter is at 325 SW 2nd Ave. in Cape Coral (near Sunsplash). Trick or Treat will be Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 4 p.m. on both days.
