The Horizon Foundation has received a $145,000 investment from the Lee County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) to continue economic development initiatives that enhance the region’s business profile.

IDA’s investment in the Horizon Foundation is its largest to date.

“The Horizon Foundation/Horizon Council has been fortunate to have a multi-year relationship with the IDA. and this is a game-changing investment for economic development in Lee County,” said Horizon Foundation President Christopher Spiro. “Every investment from the IDA and our other generous investors is an investment into our region’s future. This allows us to provide existing businesses with the resources to grow while also attracting new businesses and industries that help diversify our economy in Lee County.”

The IDA, a seven-member board appointed by the Lee Board of County Commissioners, is tasked with fostering industrial and business development. The Horizon Foundation raises private-sector money to support efforts of the Lee County Economic Development Office and the Horizon Council to improve the area’s business climate.

The nonprofit Horizon Foundation and Horizon Council comprise of government and business leaders working together for the betterment of Lee County’s economy, and thus its residents. Over the past 30 years, these organizations alongside the Lee Economic Development Office have played a significant role in attracting new business to Lee County, while tackling key issues impacting the existing business community and leveraging their platform to engage business leaders through insights and education.

The Horizon Foundation acts as the exclusive funding source to the Horizon Council. The Horizon Council was established as an advisory board by the Lee Board of County Commissioners to act as the voice of the business community in Lee County.
