Above Board Chamber to hose ‘How to Get Discovered by the Media!’ panel discussion

Reporters and producers are always on the lookout for great stories, and media coverage comes from knowing what they’re looking for. Several prominent media figures will share their secrets during the Above Board Chamber of Florida’s upcoming “How to Get Discovered by the Media” event. Members and guests are welcome to attend the event Thursday, Sep. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Crowne Plaza Bell Tower, 13051 Bell Tower Drive, in Fort Myers.

Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and interact directly with local media personalities. There will also be thousands of dollars’ worth of media and other prizes awarded to members in attendance. Guests are welcome, but only members are eligible to win.

Chelsea Castoria, Digital Marketing Director at CONRIC pr + marketing, will moderate the media panel Sept. 8. Pushing the Envelop receives FPRA Golden Image Award

On Aug. 9, the Florida Public Relations Association held its annual Golden Image Awards, recognizing public relations and marketing professionals for their innovation, planning, and design for various campaigns and projects.

Pushing the Envelope, Inc., was presented with a Judges’ Award and Award of Distinction for the gift card campaign it produced for The Dock at Crayton Cove entitled, “Give the Gift of the Dock”.

Hope Healthcare receives Nonprofit Excellence Award from the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce

Sisk earns civil mediation certification

Attorney Deana Sisk of Arend & Sisk P.A. has announced her recent certification as a civil mediator. Mediation services can often help simplify court cases and expedite resolutions for clients.

Sisk is board certified in Civil Trial Law and has been a trial attorney since graduating with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1997. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court Middle District as well as the State of Florida and is an Associate Member in the American Board of Trial Advocates.

Mediation is a collaborative process in which both parties are guided by a neutral professional, such as Sisk, where issues are clearly defined and presented and both parties can work to come to a mutual agreement.

The Florida Supreme Court has mandatory requirements which must be met for certification as a mediator. In addition to completing a Florida Supreme Court certified mediation training program, applicants must possess sufficient education and experience, complete required mentorship obligations, and demonstrate good moral character. They must also complete continuing education courses to maintain certification once it is earned.

Amber Klappert recently joined Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., P.A. as a full-time team member after working with the firm as a Florida Gulf Coast University intern for the spring and summer semesters.
