Cape Coral re:MADE is celebrating Christmas in July throughout the month and is hosting several programs.

• July 9, from 10 a.m. to noon: An artist is hosting a free Make & Take painting project.

• July 16, from 10 a.m. to noon: An artist hosting a free Make & Take Stencil Ornament project.

• July 28, from 6-8 p.m.: Meet the artist event. Free glass of wine will be offered while guests get to meet entrepreneurs and artists.

Cape Coral re:MADE is a nonprofit that teaches entrepreneurship through the repurposing process. We facilitate community and teach new skills all while having fun.

Mercola Market to host 2nd Annual Summer Fest & 5K Color Fun Run July 23

Natural health company Mercola will celebrate its 25th anniversary with 2nd Annual Mid-Cape Summer Fest on Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Mercola Market & Café, located at 125 SW 3rd Place in Cape Coral. The event will start with the annual 5K Color Fun Run, which was rescheduled due to previous weather conditions.

The full-day celebration will also feature live music, food trucks, beer and wine, more than 20 local arts and summer activity vendors, face painting, a donation-based dunk tank that will benefit local organizations, fair-style games and a special speaking and book signing gathering from company founder Dr. Joseph Mercola at 11 a.m.

The Market is kicking off this year’s Summer Fest with its popular 5K Color Fun Run, a non-timed run that will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. at Mercola Market. The Fun Run will route through the local area where runners pass different color stations at participating businesses, including Wicked Dolphin Rum Distillery, CrossFit ENG, Sun Splash Family Waterpark, Cape Coral Animal Shelter, Crunch Fitness and the Cape Coral Skate Park.

Summer Fest is open to the public and free to attend, while certain activities will include a small charge or donation to the Cape Coral Animal Shelter or the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County. Seating for the speaking event is limited and does require reservations to be made by July 22.

Southwest Florida International Airport passenger traffic declines

During May, 836,379 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida Inter-national Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. This was a decrease of 11.8 percent compared to May 2021. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 24.6 percent compared to last year.

The traffic leader in May was Delta with 196,119 total passengers. Rounding out the top five airlines were South-west (148,142), American (125,644), United (122,902) and JetBlue (103,645).

Southwest Florida Inter-national Airport had 7,409 aircraft operations, a de-crease of 19.5 percent compared to May 2021. Page Field saw 15,527 operations, a 28 percent increase compared to May 2021.

Southwest Florida Inter-national Airport served more than 10.3 million passengers in 2021 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction.

Greater Fort Myers Chamber’s luncheon to highlight tips for better work-life balance

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon Thursday, July 21, will share insights on how to maintain a greater work-life balance.

Guests of the luncheon will hear from speaker David Essel, a best-selling author, counselor, master life coach, international speaker, TV/radio host and minister.

During the program, Essel will spotlight ways to take back control in life and reestablish work-life balance, covering the importance of health benefits relating to a balanced life as well as how to navigate stress, the never-ending workday, time management and scheduling.

The Florida Bar honors Corso as Board Certified Lawyer of the Year
