Mercola Market’s Rossi raises over $2,000 for the Cape Coral Animal Shelter

Mercola Market’s Campus Operations Manager Patrick Rossi raised $2,465 for the Cape Coral Animal Shelter after spending the evening at the facility for its annual PJs & Paws event.

Rossi may have lost of few hours of sleep, but he gained more in return, including his newly found love for cats.

Rossi, along with 16 other local representatives, raised nearly $25,000 for the animal shelter.

The Mercola Market & Café of Cape Coral is a retail store that exclusively features natural health products for health, home, pantry and pet. The Market & Café are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SCHEA to pay tribute to local graduates with display banners

South Cape Hospitality & Entertainment Association is providing resident with an opportunity to brag about their graduates, by hanging Graduate Street Banners in the heart of Cape Coral. These banners will be displayed during pre-designated May and June dates on Southeast 47th Terrace and Cape Coral Parkway.

SCHEA is accepting Graduate Recognition Street Banner applications. There are a limited number of remaining slots, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The street banners are available to families or individuals — and businesses — looking to recognize graduates.

Program is limited to the following: Graduates must be from high schools within Cape Coral or the graduate must be a Cape Coral resident who is graduating public (i.e. North Fort Myers High School) or private (such as Canterbury, and including parochial, i.e Bishop Verot) high schools outside of Cape Coral

Fort Myers Brewing Company earns two golds, silver at 2022 Best Florida Beer Professional Championships

Fort Myers Brewing Company recently earned two gold medals and one silver at the 2022 Best Florida Beer Professional Championships, a statewide competition held in Tampa.

Fort Myers Brewing earned a gold medal in the American Wheat category for its Fort Myers Wheat as well as a gold medal in the Chocolate Beer category for its Chocolate Stout. The brewery also earned a silver medal for its O.Y.A. in the Double IPA category.

Sponsored by Best Florida Beer, the Best Florida Beer Championships is a sanctioned beer, mead and cider championship with a professional competition that aims to promote commercial breweries, their brewers and excellence in craft beer. The 2022 competition attracted 798 entries in 59 categories.

Established in 2013, Fort Myers Brewing Company was the first microbrewery to open in Lee County. Edison Mall to hosts Spring Job Fair in May

With retailers and local area companies are looking to hire both part- and full-time associates to join their teams, the Edison Mall will be holding a job fair Saturday, May 26, from noon to 5 p.m..

During the job fair, guests can expect the ability to complete applications, receive company information and participate in on-site interviews.

The Job Fair will be held throughout Edison Mall. Retailers will have tables placed at their store entrances and community business will be throughout the town center.

Greater Fort Myers Chamber to host Cornhole Tournament, Halfway to SWFL Craft Beer Week

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will host its Cornhole Tournament and Halfway to SWFL Craft Beer Week celebration on Friday, April 1, at Alliance for the Arts, located at 10091 McGregor Blvd., in Fort Myers.

Presented by First Horizon Bank, the third annual Business as Unusual Cornhole Tournament will be held from 1-4 p.m., offering a fun, friendly competition for up to 32 teams with double-elimination rounds leading to the tournament champion. Registration for a team of four is $200, a spectator ticket is $30 and both include lunch and drinks.

Following the tournament, the Halfway to SWFL Craft Beer Week will carry on from 4-7:30 p.m. with an evening of craft brew tastings, food trucks including Eight Foot Brewing and Milky Whey, and a live performance by singer-songwriter Sheena Brook.

Marking the halfway point until the second annual SWFL Craft Beer Week returns in August, the event will feature brews from eight local craft breweries including Coastal Dayz Brewery, Crazy Dingo Brewing Company, Eight Foot Brewing, Fort Myers Brewing Company, Millennial Brewing Company, Palm City Brewing Company, Point Ybel Brewing Company and Riptide Brewing Company.

General admission to the event is $35 in advance or $40 at the door and includes a commemorative cup and samplings from participating breweries. VIP tables for six people are available for $300. Discounted tickets are also available for designated drivers.

For those who wish to participate in both events, registration begins at $300 for groups of four.
