Grand opening for eatery located next to Gather set for January

Cape Coral residents will soon have a new place to go for fresh, homemade pasta.

The owners of Gather plan to open a pasta restaurant and bar next to the beloved Tarpon Point eatery. It will be appropriately called Next Door and it’s slated to open in early January.

“It’s handmade pasta. Everything is made from scratch,” said one of the owners, Val Zanella Voisin. “There will be fresh pasta to buy, too. You can come purchase pasta and cook at home.”

Guests will also get to see pasta being made while they enjoy their meal.

The restaurant plans to formally announce the new creation on Monday, Oct. 25, for National Pasta Day.

Gather, located at 5971 Silver King Blvd., No. 116, blends traditional and Mediterranean flavors with classic dishes to create an international twist.

Guests can dine on the water and sip handcrafted cocktails.

It’s a destination and you’ll want to try everything on the menu at least once.

Zanella Voisin said Next Door will be able to seat 40 guests.

They’re currently working on things like building out the inside of the restaurant and the kitchen.

The inspiration for the new restaurant comes from Zanella’s husband and co-owner, Benjamin Voisin, and chef de cuisine, John Hill.

It was born out of a simple love for food.

“John has a passion for pasta,” Zanella Voisin said. “So does my husband. The two of them like to make pasta and make specials and do stuff from scratch. They’re very passionate about it.”

Zanella Voisin saw their enthusiasm and thought, “well there is nothing around here with this concept of fresh, just made pasta, where you can see the production of the pasta.”

So, they decided to be the ones to bring it to the Cape.

“And we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the New Year then with some fresh, delicious, homemade pasta.”
