Cox joins GATES Construction as junior estimator

GATES Construction last week announced the addition of Brenen Cox as junior estimator. Cox will provides the company’s Estimating Department support for all projects.

Some of his responsibilities include subcontractor database maintenance, solicitation of subcontractors and material suppliers for proposals, management of the FTP site, organization of bid documents including electronic and hard copy, and review of plans and specifications to develop scopes of work.

Cox recently moved to Florida from Texas and is based in our corporate office in Bonita Springs.

Morris-Depew Associates welcomes Leal

Cindy Leal has joined Morris-Depew Associates as a project planner in the Fort Myers headquarters, where she’ll assist in the preparation of land use planning applications and GIS exhibits.

Leal graduated from the University of Florida’s Urban and Regional Planning Master’s Program, where she focused on the importance of boundaries in the emerging field of political planning. Leal has extensive knowledge in economic development, transportation, land use law, conceptual land planning and design, site analysis and international development.

She was also the recipient of the 2017 Florida Planning and Zoning Association Outstanding Student Award. In addition to being a member of FPZA, she is also a member of the American Planning Association.

Owen-Ames-Kimball Company, a general contractorwith a longstanding presence in Southwest Florida, has announced the hiring of Robb Lux as a superintendent.

Lux started his career as a laboratory and field technician testing construction materials. He was promoted to laboratory manager when he also served as a mentor to junior team members. Preferring to work outside and engage with clients, Lux became a job site superintendent for commercial construction projects and used his skills to take on project management roles. He is skilled in multiple construction disciplines, including masonry and site work. He completed his studies at St. Paul Technical College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and has extensive experience in school construction projects and worked on O-A-K’s construction of the new Lehigh Middle School.
