The Loft at OT

Early responses positive for city’s new upscale nightspot

For those who are 21-and-up, there’s a new hangout spot in town.

The Loft at OT sits above Overtime Pizzeria & Sports Pub and it features a full liquor bar, a wide selection of craft cocktails, wines, craft beers, tapas and live entertainment.

It has an upscale, city vibe in the heart of Cape Coral.

Owners Mike and Kristina Amato opened Overtime five years ago and purchased the building that houses both businesses in 2018.

“The concept of food and the menu at Overtime and everything was us,” Kristina Amatos said. “Everything was new and we were working the kinks out.”

The Loft at OT was always an idea, but the Amatos were focused on growing their business downstairs.

At first they were renting the building, so they could only make so many modifications.

“While we were renting, we couldn’t open up the upstairs,” Amato said. “We had room to grow, but it wasn’t available.”

They started talking about opening the upstairs part of the building once they realized it would be a possibility.

With Overtime Pizzeria & Sports Pub well established, it was time for the Amatos to start converting the space above Overtime into a unique nightlife venue.

Originally from Philadelphia and an area resident for the past eight years, Mike Amato developed his artistry in his Sicilian family’s 45-year-old establishment, Angelo’s Pizza & Ristorante.

Since then, he’s opened and operated three successful establishments: Nemos, a pizza shop on the Jersey Shore with two locations, and Overtime Pizzeria & Sports Pub.

When the Amatos opened The Loft, they knew they wanted to do something unique and completely different.

“I love Overtime,” Kristina Amato said. “I love what it is. I love that it’s family friendly. I love the big menu. I love the casual environment.”

The Loft, which opened in December, is more of an intimate, upscale environment.

It’s located at 1708 Cape Coral Parkway, W.

“We want to be the local night place where everyone wants to go to have a good time and meet friends, as well as the place for special occasions,” Amato said. “We’ve gone to great lengths to make the space inviting, comfortable and exciting. We think it’s perfect.”

They had the booths custom made, used granite for the bar and tabletops, built the space using the finest materials, and designed it to have plenty of space for as many as 120 guests.

Their goal was to make The Loft similar to lounges and nightlife venues you’d experience in New York or Chicago.

The Loft offers fine wines, top-shelf liquors and an incredible beer selection.

It offers a tapas menu which includes deviled eggs, fish dip, a hummus duo, smoked salmon, artisan paninis, a spring salad and pepper shooters.

The Loft at OT is open Monday and Wednesday, as well as Friday and Saturday nights. Most evenings will offer live music, and a comedy show will be booked each month. The space is also available to rent for private parties of up to 100 people.

Amato wants people to feel a city type of vibe when they walk in.

“It’s not necessarily a special occasion, but they’re out to enjoy themselves,” she said. “Just a relaxed, upscale environment.”

So far, Amato says customers have been excited about the new spot.

“We’ve been getting comments like, ‘This part of Cape Coral needs something like this,'” she said. “It’s been super positive.”
