Women in Business announces new date for 2020 APEX Awards

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business committee has announced a new date for its 2020 APEX Awards, which will now be held Friday, Nov. 13, at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village in Cape Coral.

The annual APEX Awards recognize outstanding women in the Greater Fort Myers community who excel in the areas of professionalism, philanthropy and leadership. Through Wednesday, July 1, the community is invited to submit nominations online at www.fortmyers.org/events/ apex-awards. Nominees must be current members of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce.

Following a review of all nominations, Women in Business will announce this year’s top five finalists during its monthly networking session Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Crowne Plaza at Bell Tower in Fort Myers. These five finalists will go on to be recognized during the gala dinner in November, where one will be named the recipient of this year’s APEX Award.

The 15th annual APEX Awards dinner is presented by Sanibel Captiva Community Bank. Tickets are $150 each, available for purchase at www.FortMyers.org.

Elite DNA Therapy Services offering virtual care appointments

Social distancing and stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19 are taking their toll on the entire population due to isolation, fear, financial hardships and the pandemic’s uncertain future and duration.

Association for Talent Development to meet virtually next Wednesday

Vern Schellenger, principal consultant with Contacts Count, will be the featured speaker at the Association for Talent Development’s virtual chapter meeting on Wednesday, May 27, from 12-1 p.m. His session on, “Do You Know the #1 Predictor of Career Success?” will help attendees learn a framework that can lead to individual success and a path for how they can add value to their organization.

Schellenger has held leadership positions as a Human Resources generalist, head of a corporate university and as a career management consultant and coach. His background in human resource development and broad-based business experience enables him to help clients see the “big picture” and take the specific actions necessary to achieve personal success.

Schellenger will help attendees:

* Understand how networking skills can lead to increased collaboration.

CONRIC’s Miller wins PR award

CONRIC PR & Marketing Vice President of Marketing Jaimie Miller APR was named Public Relations Professional of the Year by the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association during its annual Local Image Awards event, held April 23.

The annual award honors someone who leads by “word and deed,” displaying professional attitude, exercising a high standard of professional conduct, always cooperative and supportive of fellow public relations professionals and focused on raising the professional standing of FPRA in the community

Miller’s award adds to an impressive list of accomplishments with FPRA. In 2019, she was recognized as the chapter’s Member of the Year. In 2015, she was honored with the organization’s Rising Star Award, the same year she earned her coveted accreditation in public relations designation from the Universal Accreditation Board. Miller has been awarded multiple full scholarships to the FPRA annual state conference.

A graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, Miller started her career at CONRIC in 2017.

Russell promoted at Conditioned Air

Conditioned Air Company recently announced the promotion of Tim Russell to the senior management position of senior vice president and chief financial officer. In this expanded role, Russell will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company. He also will become a partner in Conditioned Air.

Conditioned Air is one of the region’s largest air-conditioning contracting and service firm with more than 350 employees across Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Originally from Indiana, Russell has lived in Southwest Florida for more than 30 years. Before that, he served as CFO at Pulte-Knipper, a construction and development firm.

SCORE goes virtual to offer mentoring for local businesses

SCORE has gone fully virtual to continue providing mentoring services to businesses in need during this especially critical time. The question most asked today is what to do once a business receives a PPP loan.

Join two of SCORE Southwest Florida’s top financial management mentors as they help to cut through the confusion of ever-changing PPP regulations and explain how businesses can maximize the use PPP funding can maximize use of PPP funds and keep track of key expenses.

Hickman joins Henderson Franklin

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., this week announced that Luca Hickman has joined the firm. He will be based out of Henderson Franklin’s Fort Myers’ office.
