Discovery Point Child Development Center to open in Cape Coral
Discovery Point Child Development Centers, a leading educational child care franchise with nearly 50 locations throughout the Southeast, has announces plans for its first child care center in Cape Coral.
The center will be owned and operated by Dr. Roger Clough and Robin Clough and is scheduled to open in 2020.
Having been a superintendent of schools for 11 years in the state of New York, Roger brings educational experience and expertise to Discovery Point, its students and their families. During his tenure, he helped implement several successful new programs for younger-age children. These include broadening Pre-Kinder-garten, introducing Junior Kindergarten and adding reading teachers and teaching assistants in all elementary schools within his district. He also helped establish a STEM program in the elementary schools and helped create after-school and mentoring programs for young children.
While her husband’s background is in education, Robin worked for the United States Customs Service and Homeland Security for 25 years. Her roles included a wide variety of administrative and management duties essential to the daily operation of Homeland Security Investi-gations.
Both Cloughs have been active in the communities in which they have lived. They have participated in community service and served as youth sports league coaches. They have also served on many county, local, and corporate boards such as the County Youth Bureau and the Aluminum Company of America, as well as the housing authority, flood commission, and business council.
Originally from upstate New York, the Cloughs have two teenaged children, McKenzie and Owen, who are both involved in sports and music. The family is looking forward to moving to Florida and opening a new Discovery Point.
The Cape Coral location will mark the 48th active Discovery Point center, and its 13th in the state of Florida. Discovery Point centers have a distinctive design that incorporates years of childcare experience into their construction and layout. Features include an open floor plan with clear sight lines, easy access between classrooms, efficient use of multi-purpose spaces, and minimal use of hallways.
The Cape Coral center will be an updated, modernized version of Discovery Point’s traditional center layout the first location to reflect this new design.
Construction of the Cape Coral center is set to begin in 2020.
